The Truth Will Set You Free

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Aspen Lane Real Estate Colorful Colorado CRE# 40005863

Something that gives me a great feeling of inner peace is to try to follow the teachings of the Buddha.

I am not Buddhist perse, but I do get great inspiration from the Buddha.

Here is one of my favorite quotes:

Three things cannot be long hidden:
the sun, the moon, and the truth.

I have found that speaking the truth is the best way to embrace life.  Sure there are times when those around us don't want to hear the truth, but they usually need to hear it.

You don't have to be cruel when you speak the truth.  There are ways to deliver a truthful message without hurting others.

I frequently have neighbors and friends ask me for my opinion.  Why? Because they know I will be truthful.  Just last week, a neighbor called and asked for my opinion about a home improvement project she was taking on.  She said she wanted my opinion because she knew I would be truthful.

If I know the truth will hurt, I try to keep quiet and let them do the talking by simply asking them questions about how they feel about the situation.

This way they uncover the truth on their own without feeling like someone else hurt their feelings.

Thanks for the cool messages to help us meander through life Buddha!

Although I am the queen of tact, I find a lot of people coming to me for my outlook on certain situations precisely because I give them the truth, even if it is a brutal truth.  That's what they want to hear.  There are ways to deliver that aren't cruel, even if it is hurtful.

There are many ways to be truthful without causing pain. It is an art form, but a beautiful one if mastered.

Hi Belinda- I love what Buddha teaches us. The truth doesn't have to hurt as long as it's presented from the heart.

Good morning, Belinda Spillman the only problem with homeowners reaching for that "truth" on their own is that it may take months to get there!!!  I like to bottom line it...

Hi Belinda

I think it's especially important for buyers and sellers to be told the truth even though they may not want to hear it. There are usally ways to do this that make it easier to hear.

Belinda Spillman Beautiful budda and love those hands. Have not seen one like that before. Thanks for the reminder to tell the truth when asked. Sometimes I give it without asking and that gets me in trouble. Many people only want to hear want they want to hear.

I agree about truth, and I also agree there are ways to say things truthfully and tactfully at the same time.

I really liked what you said about "self discovery" by asking questions and the truth reveals itself through the questions, as they discover the truth.

This brought back a funny memory for me. Long ago when I was just dating my husband...

my sister (only a teen at the time) asked how her pants looked.

He told her the truth. Something about them not looking great or making her look big or something.

She threw a fit and let him have it.

He learned a huge lesson that day. LOL
