Property Tax Bills Have Arrived- Clarksville/Montgomery County
Property Owners in Clarksville and Montgomery County TN have been getting lots of mail this last week. The 2016 tax bills are arriving and a month later than in previous years.
The deadline for paying has not changed. February 28, 2018 is the final day to pay on time without penalties or interest being added. After that time interest and penalties will accrue each month.
Commercial, residential and personal property owners will all receive tax bills. Businesses are the only ones that pay personal property taxes.
Residential Rates for 2016 are as follows:
Residential properties are figured on 25% of the state assessed value. Tax rates in the City limits are $1.24 and in the County rate is $3.07 per hundred of the 25% assessed value. If you own property in the city limits you will pay both the city and the county rates on your property. If you live outside the city limits in the county, you pay only the county rate. You can calculate your property tax obligation on this calculator.
Commercial properties are rated at 40% of the state assessed value. This includes multi-family residential properties as being considered commercial properties.
