12 Days of ThanksGiving 2017- ActiveRain Challenge (A found friend)
I don't have to go far to find my first thankfulness because it comes from the very person who is running the 12 day challenge on thankfulness.
Every two years my US Navy submarine, that has long since been scrapped has a reunion. Our ship, the USS Ethan Allen SSBN 608, only served for 23 years before it was decommissioned. We have been trying to find certain members of our crew for many, many years. The searching has been long and tenuous. Which brings me to my first blog post of thankfulness.
In Late July up 2017 we got a clue we're one of our shipmates which I served with for three and a half years was. I have not seen this person since his going away party in 1981. How many hours had been spent following leads but never amounted to anything. However in July of this year someone had seen that our friend might live in clarksville Tennessee. I only know one person in Clarksville Tennessee and that is the lovely and beautiful Debbie Reynolds. I would never have bought a real estate blog Empire could have helped me find a person in Clarksville Tennessee.
I called debbie Reynolds hoping she could look up property information and maybe give me a clue if he lived in Clarksville. Debbie did not hesitate she said she would look into it as time permitted. A couple weeks later I heard back from Debbie and she said that there was a person of that name who worked at the hospital where her son-in-law and that's her daughter new this man's wife. A couple more weeks went by and Debbie inform me that her daughter frequented a pizza restaurant where my friends wife work and that she would give her my information. You have to remember that I have not seen my friend since 1981 and nobody had heard from him in that many years. I told her to tell him that Julio ( my navy nickname) was looking for him and gave my phone number.
It was now the end of September and I thought that I might have followed up on a cold lead when my phone rang. It was from Clarksville Tennessee and I thought it was Debbie Reynolds but to my delight it was my long lost friend from the Navy. We reminisced for over an hour and now I have found one of the hardest people to find in the United States.
I am thankful where Debbie Reynolds in the time and effort that she and her daughter put forth for a realtor 3500 miles away in Tacoma Washington. She has never met me however I consider her a good friend and you guys all have learned so much about her from activerain.
I am writing this as part of her twelve days of Thanksgiving 2017 ActiveRain challenge however i'm also writing this to say thanks to a person who went the extra mile for a person in need who is very appreciative.
Thank you again Debbie Reynolds!
