Welcome to the ongoing series called Tuesday Travelogue. We are in our 142nd week!
Each week, some ActiveRain bloggers are spotlighted to take us somewhere we may not have been on some kind of virtual travel (and it doesn't cost a dime!). Here is the purpose:
to enjoy the ride"
"take a trip without even leaving the farm"
"expand your horizons"
"see through someone else's eyes"
and hopefully much more!
On this day in history, Nelie Bly goes around the world. A bit more about her:
1889 Nelie Bly sets out to go around the world in 80 days
The American journalist, whose real name was Elizabeth Cochrane Seaman, followed the footsteps of fictional character Phileas Fogg from Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days. She started her adventure in Hoboken and came back 72 days later.
I thought I would focus on women and travel this week as a nod to Nelie. (Most assuredly, Nelie would have had her own travel blog if she were around today!)
Kathy Streib offers up a colorful palette of beachiness often on her blog. And Delray Beach is a spot on the map that we all would enjoy visiting because of her!
Sheila Anderson travels to see some jaw-dropping visages, and this one's no different. Machu Picchu!
Sheri Sperry always delivers interesting photographs and stories of areas around her home in Sedona AZ. This ghost town, is purported to be Arizona's Richest Ghost Town. Who knew??!!
To round out this week's group of amazing women, I'd like to share a thoughtful post by Myrl Jeffcoat, who quotes the Dalai Lama in an inspirational post.
Please don't forget to comment on these blog posts and I hope that you enjoyed all of these virtual travels.
