I've lived on Long Island NY for 33 years, thinking I've explored most of it and this tiny island continues to be full of wonderful discoveries. Allowing myself to take a break from providing Feng Shui Consultations, I decided to treat myself to a 7 mile hike throughout the Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge.
They have a center that is full of information on the local hikes, wildlife you could spot and even provide a museum and lecture center. I have to say, it was pretty impressive.

Entrance fee into the refuge for hiking is free. And they are open all season long and is great for any level of explorer. I hear visiting during the winter time is very beautiful when there is snowfall.
