Is Cyberhomes the 800 pound Gorilla?

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Tutas Towne Realty, Inc and Garden Views Realty, LLC BK607690

Look real "hard" at the picture. Oops!!!

Hi folks. Today I want to talk a little bit about Cyberhomes. Have you heard of them? I hope so. is the real estate portal owned by Fidelity National Financial(FNF). FNF is(from their website):

  • Fidelity National Financial, Inc. (NYSE: FNF), number 248 on the Fortune 500, is a leading provider of title insurance, specialty insurance and claims management services. The company comprises three primary subsidiaries: Fidelity National Title Group, Inc. and Fidelity National Property and Casualty Insurance Group, both wholly owned subsidiaries of FNF, as well as Sedgwick CMS, a minority-owned subsidiary.

Now folks, I know we always talking about Zillow. Zillow this, Zillow that, Zestimates and blah, blah, blah....

While we are doing all this talking about Zillow(Z). Cyberhomes(CH) seems to be slipping under our radar. Let's do a little comparison.

Z claims to have 80 million property records. CH claims 100 million or 85% of the properties in the USA!!

Z has 1,870,000 "Homes for sale" posted. CH has 2.5 million!!

When you visit Z their main page is pushing their Zestimate at you. When you visit CH they are pushing "Homes for Sale".

Now folks, what would happen if CH decided to get into the real estate business? I'm talking about the selling real estate leads business.

I don't know the answer but I do know we need to be watching what happens with CH. Consumers want data and CH has a whole bunch of it. The real question is "What is CH going to do with the consumer once they get them?" And it looks to me like they will get them. Maybe they'll just give them to us for FREE for a fee!!! What say you?

I was shown the site the other day. Not a bad looking site. I worry though that they will try to sell back our listings leads to us in the future.

I just came back from Washington DC and the midyear meetings The board of directors just authorized the National Real Estate Library with authority to get it underway. I hope it isn't too little too late. when complete it will have a data base of all properties in the United States. I am hoping by the November meeting more will be known. See the Paper written about this here. Sorry I went on so long I guess I need to do my own blog.

Yes, they'll sell the leads to us.  I'd say that's a foregone conclusion.  It's about the buck.

I just checked it out and the only listings in our market are my office's listings.  I'm thinking they are pulling listings from Point2Agent?

Cyberhomes data uploads from the MLS.  When it first became available a few months ago, I opted in for them to load all our firm's listings.  Zillow listings load off of Postlets and a few other websites, but not the MLS (at least to my knowledge).  I'm not sure the angle of either of these companies except to drive people to their websites and hopefully get some business as a result.

I have been involved with Cyberhomes since its inception.  Cyberhomes is owned by Fidelity National Financial a title insurer which I work for.  I can honestly say we are not in the business of selling leads, and will not be.  Cyberhomes pays for itself through advertising which is how most informational websites do.

Cyberhomes differs from zillow in so many ways, but the main difference is that Cyberhomes has contracts signed with most MLS's to upload their current listings onto our site.  The reason that we have that is because cyberhomes does not allow FSBO like zillow does.  We designed a site that caters to Agents and Brokers.

Did you know that you could have all of the information that is on Cyberhomes on your website?  I mean the home valuations, the graphs, the schools, the free printable reports, the functionality of it, EVERYTHING for free, AND BY THE WAY there is no advertising when we put it onto your site!!!  We even desing a page with your header and footer of your webpage and our information in the center for free.  The reason is because we want to win your title business.  We are the largest title insurer in America.  Number 248 on the Fortune 500 list!

If you want more information on this free product write me an email.  I could talk for hours on the benefits of working with us!

One more thing about Cyberhomes.  Someone mentioned above about AOL.  Cyberhomes is now the informational provider of AOL Real Estate.  They did have a contract with until we won their business.  If you go to AOL Real Estate and click on "Home Valutaion" Cyberhomes data is there.  Just an FYI, have a good day everyone!

I'm not afraid of them at all....there is soooo much more that a good real estate agent brings to the table other than just a list of addresses with asking prices.  More power to them, but when it comes to making an intelligent search for your new home, I'll still pick a good Realtor any day!

First things first Bryant...Your momma is hot! Is she single? As for Fidelity, they have been pushing it here and actually telling us if we post our listings on their site we get the leads for free directed to our inbox. I haven't signed up yet, but I am heading over to their offices on Friday and I can update you more then.

They have been flying under my radar, but not anymore.  I checked out their data and it's pretty accurate.  I could see how buyer's and sellers would like this site: hence it's growing popularity.

As with most things that start out with good intentions will they change down the road and say hey, we can charge for this cause we have them hooked. is a great example and the ROI became nill in most cases.

Everyone eventually wants a piece of our pie.

Interesting response from Gary Decker. I will contact my local Fidelity rep to see what he can tell me about getting all of the Cyberhomesinfo on my website, for free nonetheless.

Hello Again,

I wanted to let everyone know one more thing about Cyberhomes.  If your local MLS is already signed up, then your listings are already on the Cyberhomes website.  Go to cyberhomes and search for your listing, when you find it click on the link "View Listing Information"  When you click on that link you will find a "generic" listing information page with the Broker's contact information.  What Cyberhomes offers for free is When you click on that link we REDIRECT that link to your Co-Branded Website!  Instant traffic to your site.  We will NOT be charging for this in the future, Our contracts with the MLS say that as well.

This tool is simply to push traffic to your listings!  With no favoritism at all!  Our tool is to HELP Brokers and Agents, not to steal any business away from them!

It will take a short phone call for me to explain how this works to you.  Feel free to call me on my cell phone 727-688-3273 if you have ANY questions.  When it comes to Title business, I am only able to complete title for the state of Florida, but I am completely open to helping anyone in learning about Cyberhomes!

If you would like to see Cyberhomes in Action go to

Hi Gray, Thanks for adding all the great information. Very helpful. I like Cyberhomes. The way my listings are displayed is far superior to Zillow. As a listing broker I get paid no matter where my listing is found. If I were a buyers agent I would be very concerned about all the sites making first contact with buyers.

And everyone I want to thank you for stopping by and participating. As always your opinions and comments are greatly appreciated.

Bryant- thanks for your post. I was aware of Cyberhomes through my broker and think it is a great site. Too bad everyone is so wrapped up in Zillow.

Don't forget to check out for ways Brokers or Agents can incorporate the tools within your web sites and take advantage of the ability to advertise in your zip code neighborhood inexpensively.  Make it a profitable day!
