A couple of things this week made me think about how thankful I am for the generosity of others.
The first instance was during the two days that I volunteered to sell hot dogs for "The Horn of Plenty". The Horn of Plenty is coordinated by KHRT Radio and it consists of a gift basket of food and toys for local families in need. People can NOT submit their own names. They usually send out 300 or more of these gift baskets. It's a massive undertaking that I will blog about soon.
While selling hot dogs my friend Caption Randy Stall, the leader of our local Salvation Army, set up next to us and we saw a parade of people stuffing cash into his kettle.
The next example of extreme generosity was a "free will" concert of "The Mylon Hayes Family" who stopped in Minot on their way to Canada. Very few Gospel Music concerts come to Minot and here was the opportunity to see a group that currently has a song in the top 20 of this months Gospel Music charts. I want to say that they were absolutely FANTASTIC. Here is a video of their current hit. As an old Rock N Roller who never missed a concert in my youth I can tell you I've never seen the level of professionalism I saw on Friday by the Mylon Hayes Family. Kennedy Hayes just turned 15 last month and WOW can she belt out a tune. We visited with the family before and after the concert... I was sure to tell Miss Kennedy that my 16 year old son Timmothy is available is she needs a boyfriend.
