Many of you who have read my blogs for a while know that Walt and I were married in May of 2016.
We met shortly after I moved back to the Williamsburg area in 2015. He had lost his wife and was looking for a friend to help fill the void. After we met it didn't take us long to realize that we wanted to get married.
After we decided to get married, we discussed a few scenarios but eventually decided to have a small intimate ceremony. There were a total of 14 people at our ceremony including the two of us.
We had our wedding in my friend Doug's back yard. He had served for seven years as the music minister at my church in Fernandina Beach. He and his wife loved the area and always planned to move back at some point. Ironically they moved into the house directly across the street from me during my three year hiatus there.

In the above picture my older son Rob is on the left. His daughters are in the matching dresses. Directly to my left is my sister-in law Brenda who was married to my late brother. Her granddaugther is behind us. Doug and his wife Kelli are on the far right. Also in the photo are my friends Michael and Fawn Garcia, and my girl friends Cheryl and Ginette. The fourteenth person was my daughter-in-law who took the photo.
Looking back on it now, I realize that we made the best choice and I have fond memories of our wedding ceremony.

After the cermony, we treated everyone to dinner at Cafe Karibou in downtown Fernandina. It was fun and much less stressful than having a reception!
