Thankful Activerain contest #12.
Thanksgiving Day seems to mean different things to different people. We were invited to a community dinner in town by friends of ours. There will be about 700 people at this annual event.
But we like to spend Thanksgiving Day quietly. Enjoy a great meal. Take the dogs for walks in the forest. Watch some old movies. All this is on our property in northern California.
Our families are spread far and wide, and we always make Christmas a family event rather than Thanksgiving. For example, I'll be in Hawaii visiting my daughter and grandsons over Christmas and New Year's. My grandsons are on Christmas break, so there's opportunity for plenty of quality time.
Today is also the day we usually build a big wreath to put out on the gate. We usually go into the forest and gather material for it, but today was really rainy so we are putting it off until tomorrow or whenever there's a break in the weather. In the meantime, we have a cozy fire in the wood stove and plenty of egg nogg and other treats to really kick back, watch some old movies on TV, read a little.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
