Don't miss the Garden of Lights 2017 at the

San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas CA

The holiday season is here, and there are tons of fun, and beautiful, things to see and do.

Sp put this on your calendar - the annual Garden of Lights opens Saturday, December 2nd  at the San Diego Botanic Garden in Encinitas, CA.

San Diego Botanic Garden

While no one would deny the San Diego Botanic Garden is a beautiful place to enjoy at any time of the year, it’s especially magical during the holidays when the gardens come to life with 125,000 sparkling lights for their annual Garden of Lights event. You can view the garden and lights from December 2nd through the 23rd, and then again from the 26th to the 30th, from 5 – 9 PM daily (the San Diego Botanic Garden opens at 9 am).

We visited a few years ago and I can tell you that it was truly a special place to visit over the holidays! Truly magical.

And if the beauty of these lighted gardens is not enough, you can also enjoy horse drawn buggy rides (select evenings), marshmallow roasting, visits from Santa (from the 2nd through the 23rd), holiday crafts, a nutcracker display, live music and refreshments including mulled wine. And on selected nights you can enjoy snow – something we don’t see here except in the mountains!

Admission for Sunday – Thursday: Members $10; Seniors, Active Military and Students $10; Non-Members $15 and children ages 3–12, $5 with some additional fees for certain activities.

Friday and Saturday (Premium pricing): Members, Seniors, Active Military and Students $10, Non-Members $20, and children ages 3–12 are $5.

If you haven’t visited our botanic treasure in North San Diego County, this could be the perfect time.

Enjoy this display of light and sparkle.   In my area, a small town on a nearby big Island wins the best decorated town in all of B.C., year after year.   Town: Ladysmith on Vancouver Island.

Jeff this is the most festive time of the year with all the lights and cheer.  I don't like the cold we get with it here in CT, but all the decoration make it worth it.

HI Jeff Dowler - there is nothing like a light display at Botanical Gardens. I will probably be going to the show at the Phoenix Botanical Gardens in a couple of weeks.

Sounds like a beautiful place for sure and I might have to check it out when I am in the area, although I will miss the Garden of Lights.

There is a town outside of Oklahoma City called Chickasha that does an incredible light display. Haven't done it for awhile but it's worth it.

Maria Sapio  - the gardens themselves are spectacular - I've enjoyed them multiple times - but have only been once for the lights. This may be the year to go again. It's amazing to see!

Jeff Dowler - What a small price to pay to see and experience so much! I'm sure it costs a lot of money to maintain the Botanic Gardens and pay the electric bills for the Garden of Lights show. I hope it is well attended this year!
