How to make a small Pumpkin into a Soup Bowl? If you are interested, then check these instructions out. Then follow these easy steps.

First, just to be clear it will take a bit of an effort and time. Since I am a Realtor and I have what I call “stress waiting times”, i.e.:  times when you are waiting for the response to your Counter Offer or you are waiting to coordinate a showing and the list goes on and on. These are good times to prepare this Bowl.

I like to use cooking as a therapy to distract me from wanting to harass the other parties. Then again there are times when it is a Holiday and I like to do something more festive than the standard soup. That is when I get creative. These few extra steps generally will make an awesome presentation.

So, with that said let’s jump into how to do it. Depending on the number of people, in my case we were going to have an intimate soup dinner with one of our neighbors, hence only three containers were needed.

First, I would suggest make sure that you have three pumpkins, relatively even sized with minimal or no blemishes. Once you selected them, then do some very good outside cleaning of the pumpkins.

Second, using a sharp paring or Chef’s knife carefully cut the hat out with an inward slanting. The purpose of this is once you bake the pumpkin you do not want to lose the hat inside the pumpkin. Once you accomplished this make sure you use a sharp long spoon to get the seeds out from the inside of the pumpkin without damaging the sides or the bottom. (if you want to save the seeds you can for another snack or meal)

Third, wipe out the inside from all the stringy parts, until it looks like you could put liquids in it. Some people prefer to use butter to coat the insides, I prefer extra virgin olive oil, which will be lighter and equally beneficial to coat the insides. It will also blend with the soup I am making.

Fourth, preheat the oven to about 400 degrees put the pumpkins in an aluminum container, makes cleaning up easier later. (Take my word for it I have done this a few times) bake upside down for about 20-25 minutes. Take it out and let it cool until you are ready to go to the next step.

I like to find out when the company arrives and after small talk and appetizer I can time it that I would be pulling out the finished product when the guests are there, so I could give them the’ Wow Effect’.

Since the table is set already all I have to do is, deliver it to the table. Guaranteed you will impress your friends. More so than if you used a Sourdough Bread Bowl😊

Next, I will write about how to make the soup outside and finish it off in the oven within the Pumpkin Container.

Now if you are looking for a Realtor who will give you great advice and walk you through the process to make the transaction go very smoothly for you, just like making the pumpkin bowls. Please reach out to me directly.

I have cleaned and baked many a pumpkin and then pureed, froze some and made pies. The seeds I wash and lightly salt and toast in a low temp oven. They make great snacks.
