Here's another way to look at the bucket list.

Take a few moments to read about Marti's idea of a reverse bucket list. All the things you are thankful for. Not the things you have not accomplished. Thanks for sharing  Marti !

Do you have a bucket list?

I’ve never liked that term nor understood where it came from. A bucket list?

To me a bucket is something you use to feed or water the horse, or use to hold sudsy hot water for reverse bucket listscrubbing. Nevertheless, I do understand the meaning, so – onward.

If you do have a bucket list, it reminds you of all the things you want to do in this lifetime that you haven’t yet done. If the list is long, I expect it could be pretty discouraging. You might feel that you have no chance of getting through it in this lifetime.

So why not make a reverse bucket list – one filled with all the things you have done and all the goals you have accomplished?

I recall a class from years ago when participants were asked to list the 5 things they’d accomplished that made them feel proud of themselves.

At first I thought I had nothing to write, but then I stopped to think. Yes, I did, beginning with raising a couple of fine sons, and going on to helping found our local animal rescue. Before long I had to stop and think which 5 made me feel happiest.

What do you bet, you could do the same thing?

Once you’ve written down everything you can think of, go back and choose the five accomplishments that make you feel most proud of yourself.

By the time you’ve finished, you’ll be feeling pretty darned good about yourself. You might even feel more motivated to tackle the items in your other bucket list.

One more step to happiness…

rocksIf you end your day and drift off to sleep feeling good, you’ll sleep more soundly and wake up feeling happier. As a result, your morning and perhaps your entire day will go more smoothly.

Sound good? Then take this advice from “The Magic.”

Find a nice little rock, one that fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. (Rhonda calls it your magic rock.)

Keep it by your bed, and each night before you go to sleep, hold that magic rock while you think back over your day and try to decide which was the best thing that happened in the day.

This exercise takes your mind away from the things that went wrong or were simply annoying. It forces you to go back over all the good things in order to decide which was the best. As you go through those positive events, say thank you for each of them.

But be warned – you may fall asleep before you make the decision on which was best. That’s OK, because either way, you’ll be ending the day on a positive note.

Very nice reblog and that is kind of how I do things as well, since I don't really have a bucket list, but I am thankful for all of the neat stuff I have done in life!

We do have a bucket list and it is always changing. That happens as we learn of fun new experiences that we must do.

Did you use any of my 10 reasons to list now on your show? How did it go? Of course, I didn't need to ask that. YOur show goes marvelously every week.
