Q & A - Is my Home listed on Zillow?

My Seller recently asked - Is my Home Listed on Zillow?

 

In Denver the Company Broker has the option on the listings whether or not to post to Zillow, Realtor.com, Homes.com and The Denver Post when entering a listing.   

 

My thoughts on this is, why not allow access on all these sites.   If you don't all listings will show up on other IDX sites anyway.   There was a time the Denver MLS restricted syndicating listings to Zillow as they refused to sign an agreement to take down properties off their site after a home goes under contract or closes.  The Denver MLS wanted them to be report the correct status.  It took them a year to sign the agreement.

 

So, my answer is - of course, your listing is everywhere I can think of putting it!   I hope to get the most exposure I can for your home!

The real problem with being on Zillow, Joan, is that you can't get away from those Zesstimates. I have a home on the market now that is zesstimated $100K less than what we are asking and $150K less than appraised value because of how they calculate numbers. I can't judge what that may be costing me in showings.

I am trying to stay clear of Z as they try to sell our listings back to us Joan Cox  why should we pay them for what is ours to begin with ? Our MLS is also trying very hard to also come up with a method where our buyers now can share with us listings directly on the MLS  .This way they have no reason to go to 3rd party companies who try to sell us what is ours to begin with .

it's a seller decision via a check box on our listing agreements and in our MLS we have that same corresponding check box to check or not.

Grant, I know that too, but the public seems to think Z rules.   That is the first place they go, even if they know they are not exactly correct.

Nina, OH, that is awful.   There was a homeowner I think in MN that tried suing Z for the zestimate, as it hurt their sale.   Think they lost.  That does need to go away!

Hannah, I don't get called from Z asking to pay for their Premier Agent any more.   I stay away also, but know the public thinks they are the bomb.

I had a client ask this a while back.

I told hem lets see what z has to say.

I went to z's site and pulled up the zestimate.

$22,000 less tha I listed it for and $15,500 less than the counties valuation.

 

"So you still want your home listed on  "z"...HELL NO!!!
