Wedding - Sioux Falls Wedding Venues
10 plus tips to have the Best Wedding in Sioux Falls, SD. A nice hotel/ conference center is an easy one-stop shop for your wedding reception. These venues often provide packages that include set-up and tear down of the event: all the cleaning and catering, plus a discounted sleeping room block for out of town guests Another perk with booking a hotel reception package is a complimentary honeymoon suite on the wedding night for the bride and groom. If you don't want the hassle of dealing with multiple vendors, and especially if you don't want to have your family and guests stacking chairs and moving tables at the reception hall at the conclusion of the event, a conference center hotel is a great choice.
There are a couple of things to consider with these, however. First, the packages can be pricey – if you're on a budget or have a small guest list, this might not be the best option for you. Also, on high-demand weekends, especially Saturdays, there is usually a minimum purchase required to book that date. If you still like the idea of an all-in-one (and it is easy), consider a Sunday or Friday wedding reception instead. Hotel weddings can be elegant and beautiful, but if you're looking for something with a little more character, consider these four popular reception venues:
Penny Tree, Parker, SD
Penny Tree is an outdoor wedding venue in the woods. With a three-sided cabin-esque banquet hall(there's an option to fully enclose it in inclement weather) this enchanting site is perfect for a fairytale wedding. This space also has full waitstaff service, including full bar service, and a list of preferred caterers. There are facilities for the bridal party to get ready, as well as ceremony sites, including one tucked into a picturesque glen. Pro Tip: If you aren't sure about selecting certain vendors, such as a DJ, florist, cake lady, or caterer, ask the reception hall event planner. She has worked with most of the local vendors, and can guide you toward one that suits your needs, and perhaps away from some that have proven unreliable in the past. There typically aren't "kickbacks" involved – your event planner has as much of a desire to see your big day go off perfectly as you. Check out their Facebook Page HERE!
Meadow Barn at Country Orchard, Harrisburg SD
One of the newer wedding reception venues (and one that is quickly becoming very desirable) is the Meadow Barn at Country Orchard. Nestled within a secluded a 32-year-old apple orchard outside of Sioux Falls, Meadow Barn is an open-loft construction ideal for an indoor/ outdoor event. The tables, chairs, and settings all come together to complement the rustic, Great Northwoods appeal, with a cozy firepit and huge paned windows. The best touch is the triple set of glass chandeliers set in the middle of the high peaked ceiling. These gorgeous lighting fixtures look like they belong in a palace, and immediately elevate the new barn from country rustic to country elegance. The event space includes full service as well as a list of recommended caterers and bar service. Check out their Facebook Page HERE!
The Canton Barn, Canton SD
Country chic can be transformed into country glam at The Canton Barn wedding reception venue. The cozy main level is darker and rustic, seating up to 72, and houses the bar and caterers corner. Up a gorgeous refinished flight of stairs (no ladders here!) is an airy loft that can comfortably hold 300 guests, featuring a soaring original 29-foot tall ceiling and a beautiful bridal suite. Set on rolling green acres, this lovely venue is perfect for the country couple. There's a lot of history at this 100-year-old site, with dozens of happy lives begun here. The site also boasts a covered patio and a gazebo perfect for wedding vows, along with a fire pit inviting cozy companionship.

Blue Haven Barn & Garden
If you are choosing don't forget this great location just on the west edge of Sioux Falls, near Wild Water West. This facility holds 300 guests in an elegant main event room with 35 ft ceilings. You have an option to hire an outside caterer to save on money. They also offer shuttle services to some local hotels, a list can be provided. Your wedding can be inside or outside depending on the season. If you want to keep up with activities at this location you can go to their Facebook Page. The most delicious wedding cakes in Sioux Falls
Once you've decided on your wedding date and venue, it's time for my personal favorite part of wedding planning – finding the perfect cake. There may be a particular baker you have in mind already – it's important to book early, as wedding cakes take time, and there are only so many that the in-demand bakeries can do each day. A good baker will schedule an appointment with the bride and groom, providing samples to taste (yum!) as well as a photo portfolio of styles for the number of guests you anticipate. Pro Tip: If you have a certain cake topper in mind, bring it along, or provide a description or photo. Some cake styles may clash with your topper (all of them clash with the topper where the bride is dragging the groom by the hair, trust me), or some of the top tiers may be too small to accommodate larger characters. If you have your heart set on a cake that won't fit the topper, don't worry. You can put it on the groom's cake, or place it off to one side on the cake table. So who makes the tastiest cakes in Sioux Falls?
The Cake Lady
The Cake Lady bakery is the highest rated wedding baker in town - she's even received recognition from theknot.com – a pretty big honor. If you've tasted a to-die-for slice of wedding cake at a reception, chances are it's from The Cake Lady. Their location is at 2225 W. 50th St Sioux Falls, SD 57105 and the phone number is 605-610-9604.
Cake Creations by Janet
Cake Creations by Janet is another creative, delicious cake designer for weddings – and other occasions, too! Many times, your wedding cake baker can also do the groom's cake and the cake for a bridal shower.
Chef April - at Callaway's
Chef April is located at CJ Callaway's and her website is here. If you've seen a beautiful cake that belongs in a magazine, then suddenly just seen crumbs, you've probably experienced the wonder that is Chef April Austin. She creates probably the most intricate designs of all the bakers in Sioux Falls and can work from a picture, drawing, or a description and theme. A special touch for wedding favors is a custom cupcake for each guest to take home, baked by Chef April.
Sugar Momma's Custom Cakery
In Yankton, SD is a little off the beaten path, but well worth the drive. Her specialty is the creative, sumptuous cake fillings and specialty groom's cakes – no plain sheet cakes for your man with Sugar Mommas!

Say Cheese! Wedding Photographers in Sioux Falls
Every wedding vendor will tell you that their specialty is the one that you shouldn't skimp on – but when it comes to your wedding photographer, this is the God's honest truth. Don't ask the guy that does the high school yearbook pictures, don't get a Groupon, and do not ask that friend of a friend that has an awesome Instagram account. Get a professional wedding photographer, review their portfolio of work, and ask for references (and check them!). Review the package details carefully, as well – some photographers retain the negatives for the wedding photos, so if you want duplicates, you have to go through them. It may cost more to have these yourself, but consider how many duplicate prints friends and family may want. Also, many photo packages are priced off the number of pictures taken, versus by the hour. Don't skimp here, either. No one wants to run out of shots before they've even cut the cake.
Your wedding album is a lasting memory of the biggest day of your life. These pictures sit on your mantel for decades and may be hanging in your grandchildren's homes as fond family memories of when Grandma and Grandpa got married. These are treasures, and if you need to cut out the candy buffet from the reception or uninvite your third-grade teacher to splurge on the perfect wedding photographer, do so. But don't just trust me – Google "unhappy with wedding photos." I'll wait.
Now that you're convinced, here are the best wedding shutterbugs in Sioux Falls:
StudioBlu Photography creates artistic, unique photos that truly capture each couple's special bond. Expect to laugh and cry when you flip through their albums, and sigh at how beautiful they made every bride look on her day. They are very hands-on and truly enjoy their work at weddings. In fact, clients say they're like wedding planners, personal attendants, and photographers all in one.
Maurer Photography and Videography creates romantic wedding photography and artistic Wedding Video for the discerning Bride & Groom. They're a little pricier than most, but looking through their collections, you will understand why. On their website, see award-winning imagery that captures the intimate romance and memories surrounding your wedding day.
Shannon Dyce Photography creates an all-day photography package, following you from the beginning of your get-ready shoot through the ceremony, reception, and saying goodbye. With an all-day package and dedicated shooter, there are plenty of small moments that might get lost in a per-picture package. Flipping through their captured moments, you'll see why this is one of the highest rated photographers in Sioux Falls.
Lynn Marie Photography is located in Harrisburg, SD she has been a professionals photographer since 2009. Lynn has served on the board of the South Dakota Professionals Photographer's Association. Here number one goal is that you are comfortable in front of her lens, so she can capture you as you are! Giver her a call at 605-370-4506 or look her up on her website at Lynn Marie Photography.
Say Yes to the Best Wedding Dresses in Sioux Falls
The dress… ah, the dress. This may be the most important garment a woman will wear in her lifetime. It needs to be romantic, flattering, beautiful, and heart-stopping for her lucky groom. When you're dress shopping, there's tons of advice out there for selecting a dress suited to your body type or best features (Legs, hips, décolletage, etc). Follow that advice. Consider light pastel shades, also, if bright white isn't a flattering tone for your skin – it isn't the best color for everyone, and a pale pink, ecru, or ice blue may actually make your skin glow better than stark white.
Don't freak out when the attendants pull the sample sizes – formal dresses are sized much smaller than normal clothing. If you wear a size 10 in jeans, don't be surprised when you're fitted in a 14 wedding gown. Don't stress about the number on the tag – no one will see it, and what matters most is how you look and feel in your dress. Pro Tip: buy the size that fits you when you find the right dress. If you have a goal of dropping a few pounds before the big day, a seamstress can always take the dress in, but don't make a $5000 wedding dress a "goal outfit."
That being said, you will know the dress when you see it. Here are some good places to start:
The French Door Bridal Boutique is the most established formalwear store in Sioux Falls. They offer stunning bridal collections, as well as menswear and a wide array of bridesmaid and flower girl dresses. Featuring certified, professional, bridal consultants available by appointment to assist you in finding your perfect gown and an in-house seamstress, on your day, they will make sure your gown fits perfectly. French Door Bridal Boutique web site is HERE!
Elegant Xpressions Boutique is a full-service formalwear store. They have trained fitters for your entire party, from the bride to flower girl. Definitely book an appointment o you can have undivided attention, especially if you're shopping during prom season or pageant season, as they carry those dresses, too. Elegant Xpressions Boutique web site is HERE!
Bridal Gallery is full-service with dresses for all the members of your wedding party, including tasteful mother-of-the-bride and mother-of-the-groom gowns. They also include tuxedos, veils, headpieces, and wedding accessories. The Bridal Gallery has a web site HERE!
Pro Tip: Once you've set a date, reserve your tuxedos right away, especially if you're getting married during prom season. Formalwear stores only have so many, and if you wait until the last minute, you might not get the ones you want for your groomsmen and ushers.

When you book Pinnacle productions as your wedding DJ, you aren't just getting some dude with an iPod and a strobe light. You're getting club-level sound and lights, as well as a professional, experienced Master of Ceremonies. The first time you and your spouse are announced as Mister and Missus Happy Couple should be exciting and attention-grabbing, and the DJ team from Pinnacle does just that. They keep your reception schedule rolling smoothly, as well as manage the breaks needed for cake cutting, designated special dances, tossing the bouquet, and then saying farewell to the bride and groom. If you can't secure Pinnacle productions – and to be fair, they book fast – another good, professional choice is Complete Weddings and Events. They provide regular DJ services, as well as dramatic event lighting for a truly breathtaking wedding event. Pro Tip: Wedding DJs book quickly, especially if your wedding date is around the Christmas season, or in the late spring/ early summer (Prom season). After you've set a date and chosen your venue, booking the DJ should be the next thing on your list. When you consult with your DJ, make sure that you tell him where the reception will be – this may affect the equipment he's able to bring, or if he charges extra to provide specialty equipment to set light and sound outdoors on in a tent.

Don't forget the details - Sioux Falls wedding rentals
There are always odds and ends that come up for a wedding, and sometimes it's better to rent than buy. Obviously, a tent or braziers for an outdoor event is something to consider, but there are some other touches, too, that can really make a difference. Chair covers and bows, for instance, if you're having the ceremony or reception in a banquet hall make an incredible difference in the ambiance of the room and the wedding photos. For only about $2-$3 per chair, linen vendors will set them up, tie the bows, and pick them up. Centerpieces can be rented, as well as candle holders and table runners. Here are some good rental vendors for those little pieces, and the big stuff, too.
Ideal Wedding and Events supplies a lot of the specialty items brides love, such as arches, centerpieces, and elegant linen.
ACCENTS Event Planning & Rentals isn't just an equipment vendor, they also offer planning services and design assistance. Sometimes, a professional can take your vision and put together a look better than you've dreamed.
ABC Rentals Special Events has the outdoors equipment you need: tents, chairs that are suited for lawns and grass, décor, and everything you'll need to make an outdoor reception feel like a fairy tale.

Sioux Falls Wedding Planners
When it's time to call in a professional, a savvy wedding planner can be one of the best investments you'll make for your wedding. She will keep you sane, stress the little details for you (and handle the big ones too), and even wrangle an errant mother-in-law if necessary. A good wedding planner knows how to work with vendors to achieve your vision, and will gently guide you to the right venue, dress, cake, colors – wherever you need help, she'll be there, planning your big day and making sure it goes off without a hitch.
Some wedding venues offer wedding planning services as part of their bridal package – many conference center hotels do this, and when you're looking at reception sites, ask about those services. If you don't find one as part of the package, or you want a planner that's dedicated to you, here are some good ones in Sioux Falls.
Jane Rae Event Planning makes sure that your big day is special, but also that the lead up is enjoyable. The best Sioux Falls wedding catering
While some venues have their own on-site catering, others may have a short list of reliable, experienced caterers that can work in those facilities. If you aren't hiring a caterer off those lists, it's always best to do your homework. Make sure that they are licensed, with food safety certifications. Ask for references, and check them. A good caterer will plan a menu tasting for you, as well as a selection of different food that works within your per-person budget. Read your package details carefully – if your guests run out of food, there will be extra charges if they have to prepare more. Check the deadlines for menu submissions and headcounts – there may be charges for changes after those dates. Review their service policies, also – typically caterers will staff the events, but there may be a "plus-plus" of tax and gratuity that ends up being several dollars more per person than the menu price. An honest caterer will give you a quote with all the charges broken out, so ask. Some of the most recommended caterers in the Sioux Falls area are:
Chef Dominique's Catering & Banquet Facility They do onsite receptions in a banquet hall seating up to 300. Family style, buffet, and plated meals, as well as appetizer and "action" stations, are all available.
MarketPlace Catering based in Inwood, IA specializes in offsite catering. They have been in business for over 20 years, serve a wide locale, and have options for every budget level.
Chef Lance Catering is an offsite caterer that will service many locations in the Sioux Falls and surrounding areas.

Sioux Falls wedding consignment
Don't break the bank, if you're on a budget, consignment buys are an option to drop your costs. Or when you're finished with your wedding décor, you can sell it at a secondhand store. I mean, unless you need 35 rustic candle lanterns for your new home – and if you do, that's ok. Do you, girl.
Centerpiece components and add-ons, as well as decorations for the buffet, cake table, and even aisle runners, can add up quickly, especially if you want things to look tasteful, and not tacky. Flipping through new offerings at Bride to Bride Wedding Consignment, you can see a lot of options that go well with current bridal themes. They also carry dresses, both new and pre-owned, so if you're looking for something a little different you might find it there.
If you don't see what you're looking for at Bride to Bride, check out I Do 2 Discount Bridal & Consignment. They have a lot of centerpieces, décor, and some cute candles, too. Pro Tip:never use scented candles on table centerpieces or on the buffet, or the cake table. They'll compete with the smell of the food and the sweet confection-y smell of your cake. I Do 2 doesn't have the selection of dresses that Bride to Bride does, though. Also, both stores get new stuff in each week, so check back periodically if you aren't having luck finding the décor you need elsewhere.

Sioux Falls Wedding Florists
Petals, garlands, and vines, Oh My! No wedding is complete without the flowers. You'll need a bouquet for the bride, a "toss bouquet" for the reception, smaller complementing bouquets for the bridesmaids, boutonnieres, aisle flowers… the list can go on for a while. If you're planning to use live flowers for a centerpiece, make sure that the scent isn't overwhelming or cloying. Your florist can steer you to the right choices for your décor. The best flowers are the ones that are in season – fall mums and deeper hues are going to be easier on your budget in the Autumn, while delicate apple or cherry blossoms look beautiful in the Spring at a barn wedding.
A good florist does more than arrange your flowers and assemble the bouquet. She can make even the smallest budget pop, as well as help set up the floral decorations. There are several good choices for florists in Sioux Falls – don't make the mistake of buying fake flowers to save a few bucks. Honey, that's never a good look.
If you or someone that's helping you plan your wedding do have a good eye for flower arranging, then consider purchasing from The Bouqs Co. Cut-to-order fresh from the flower farms nearby, The Bouqs specialize in amazing Pre-Packaged and Do-It-Yourself wholesale boxes. If you feel comfortable setting up your own flowers, or if you aren't planning an over-the-top, intricate display, this is a great way to save money on your wedding budget.
Bella Rosa Floral is one of the most popular wedding florists in the city. While they have a beautiful portfolio to choose from or be inspired by, their specialty is custom creations for each bride's unique theme.
One of the most established florists in Sioux Falls is Creative Chick Floral & Gifts. They are more traditional and elegant than some of the other florists – if you're looking for classic, start here. They aren't exclusively bridal florists, either; when you need flowers for your bridal tea or shower, then they can match what you're planning for your wedding display.
Flower Mill has an extensive array of options for live plants, cut flowers, and blooming plants for whatever you want for your wedding. They also offer display rentals, so if you want to incorporate a lot of plants into your theme, there's appropriate, sturdy display options and centerpieces that are available for rental.
If you would like a small flower shop just a short drive out of Sioux Falls for your fresh flowers you could try Flowers By Bob in Lennox, SD

Sioux Falls wedding invitations
It's time to let everyone know! The invitation to your wedding says a lot about who you are as a couple. The appearance of the invite is a glimpse of your wedding theme, and the people that you choose to feature on it (besides the bride and groom – there are options for the parents to be mentioned, as well)indicates who you'd like to honor. A little-known fact is that the heft and style of the invite indicate the level of formality – embossed invitations typically indicate a more formal event than a flat glossy, non-folded sheet.
A good stationer will help you decide the appropriate look of your invites. Don't forget to budget for "Save the Date" cards, especially if your event is large, or falls during a busier season. You'll also need RSVP cards (don't be surprised if you have to chase down attendees for their "yes" or "no" though. This is a great job for one of your bridesmaids – just make sure her thank you gift is nice). Finally, thank-you notes should be part of your invitation package. It's always tasteful to hand write a note inside the card. For some of the best printers in Sioux Falls, start here.
PaperWerks bills themselves as the "invitation specialists" and one look at their online portfolio and you'll see why. They are one of the highest rated stationers in Sioux Falls, and they have dozens of satisfied clients. Their years of experience help brides who aren't sure where to start. PaperWerks enables you to customize your invitation and incorporate your theme and wedding colors throughout all the printed materials for your wedding.
SplashOfSilver in Rockwell City, IA, has both stock invitations to choose from, as well as the capability to customize your invite if you don't see anything that inspires you.
Tri M Graphics not only will print your suite of invitations, they also do programs, dance cards, place cards, and any other printed materials you'll need for a formal event. They also have large,sign-level printing capabilities, so if you have a seating chart, you can blow it up to a poster for guests to find their tables and their friends with ease.

One of the best things about your wedding day is the pampering that goes along with getting ready. You're going to be the center of attention on the biggest day of your life, and you want to look fabulous. With all the photos that will be taken of you, your hair and makeup need to look flawless. Even if you are a #makeupaddict, still consider hiring a professional to style your hair and create a gorgeous bridal look on your face. You'll be on the go for hours, without much chance for a touch-up, so your makeup needs to stay in place, and your hair needs to look lovely, but retain the style all day. A professional hairdresser and make-up artist can give you the perfect look to last.
Beauty Lounge Salon & Boutique is a newer wedding stylist with a full range of skin care, waxing, hair, and make-up services. They do great, on-trend work, and are very budget-friendly.

When you're not feeling the barn- Sioux Falls Wedding Reception
Although barn weddings are really hot right now, there's something to be said about an indoor wedding. Many hotels and conference centers will put together a complete package that includes catering, bar service, waitstaff, and set-up and tear down of the event. Not everyone wants to be moving tables after a long day of celebrating (and eating and drinking champagne), but that's what you can expect if you book with a venue that's just the event space. If you're on a budget, however, that may be your best option. Prices for complete packages can start at $35 per person and range upwards of $100/ head. Ultimately, deciding to book your wedding venue comes down to money versus convenience.
There are some great, unique wedding venus in the Sioux Falls and surrounding areas. Some offer wedding packages, and some have preferred vendors for catering and staffing that they can hook you up with. If possible, ask to tour the facility when it's set up for a wedding – you can really get a feel for how the room will look for your own, versus trying to picture everything in an empty space. Plus, maybe that bride has some good ideas to steal.
The Old Courthouse Museum is an eclectic, fun atmosphere for a reception. The historic appeal is quaint, with beautiful outdoor courtyard views for photos as well as picturesque staircases – these are great for group shots, as the height adds interest to the photo's composition.Tthis venue maxes out at 200 guests, and ideally 150. There is also an on-site wedding coordinator.
Great Bear Recreation Park has an indoor and outdoor reception space, so you'll have options for inclement weather. The facility can hold up to 250 guests and is budget-friendly. This location is designed for smaller weddings, and you can get some great wedding pictures in the trails surrounding area!
Sheraton Sioux Falls & Convention Center offers the typical hotel wedding package, which truly is easy and takes a lot of the "finding everything" off your plate. You'll have a dedicated event coordinator, as well as full set up and clean up of your catered event. There's the option for a discounted block of hotel rooms for out of town guests, bridal suite for the honeymoon night, and a gift opening room the next morning. Expect to pay more up front for hotel packages; however, the ease of service, as well as the professionalism of many of the area conference centers take a lot of stress off area brides. This can end up being worth the investment.
Beautiful and elegant, the Orpheum Theater, with capacity up to 200 guests, will make your wedding one of the most talked-about events of the year. The professional staff guides you through setting up to showcase the unique architecture of the space, and there are so many amazing spots for great photos.
Callaway's is home to one of the best bakers in Sioux Falls, Chef April. If you book here, there's the added relief that your wedding cake will travel extremely safely to the reception hall. Plus, for a larger wedding party, Callaway's can fit up to 300 guests very comfortable. With full service of the event, this is a great option. They have on-site catering, as well, so there's another check of your list. There' even an option for indoor or outdoor ceremonies (your reception will be in the banquet hall) that you can select the day of the event.
