Ask An Ambassador - ActiveRain Rules & Guidelines 'Genuine Effort'
We all love rules and guidelines, right? Well maybe yes and maybe no! I've been noticing a lot of blog posts lately that just don't fit into the category of 'genuine effort'. And to me 'genuine effort' sounds a bit like 'reasonable effort'. Just what the heck is reasonable effort? Go head try and explain that one....just saying.
Here are the ActiveRain Rules and Guidelines for what types of post are not considered 'genuine effort' posts and will not be awarded points.
- The point system is intended to encourage and reward genuine effort. Points for blogging will only be awarded for your own original content. Examples of what doesn't qualify for points: jokes, recipes, inspirational quotes, poems, re-published marketing materials (newsletters, press releases, articles, etc.), information from government websites, bible verses, large copied sections of the MLS, or posts that only contain links and keywords, but offer no value for consumers.
Does the staff police this rule, NO. At least not that I am aware of it. And sure, of course, it's fun to play on ActiveRain every once in awhile and have some good old fashioned fun. I sure like a some fun and I'm guessing you do too!
BUT....if you're posting a lot of posts that simply don't have much 'Genuine Effort' as defined by the ActiveRain rules and guidelines ask yourself a few questions:
- How is this bringing in business for me? I mean really bringing in business?
- How do other bloggers think about me as a real estate professional posting this type of post over and over?
- Does it matter to me what other professionals think?
- Do the 'genuine posters' take me or my less than 'genuine effort' posts seriously?
- Am I showing off my real estate expertise to my full potential to members and the public?
- Am I on this platform just to rack up points thinking somehow that will bring me business?
- How can I write high quality posts?
Please take the rules and guidelines seriously
