There are a number of posts, on Active Rain, today... lamenting the loss of one of our own: Lou Ludwig.
Lou was a popular blogger, here in the rain. Several people noted that Lou, had not posted in more than ten days, which was highly unusual for him. Eventually, someone went "old school" and reached out to him via telephone... that's right... an actual telephone call, only to learn of his passing.
As people leave their respects on his last post, there have been a few comments about his family, and his friends, extolling the respect and inspiration he held here in the rain.
It caused me to wonder... we are all mortal... one day I, too, will shift this mortal coil. If I'm fortunate, some will wonder "What the heck happened to Alan May?" I haven't seen him here, in the rain for a while. I don't post as frequently (anymore) as Lou did. So it may take a bit longer for people to notice my absence. But eventually, as least a couple of people will leave a kind note (or in the case of a few, their "it's about time" message).
But who will read it? Very few of my local colleagues follow my blog. My family doesn't visit my blog... in fact I doubt they'd know how to find it. I'm sure a few clients would find it, but doubt they'd comment. Most of the comments would come from my Active Rain family.
Admittedly, I was not one of Lou Ludwig's regular followers. But clearly, in his passing, we have learned that he was a fortunate man. He had family, here in the rain.
He will be missed.
