Atlanta Buckhead -
A Christmas Tale From Our Family To Yours - 2017
Once upon a birthday, our son received a very special gift from his dear wife. Each year, she discovers something unusual and unexpected for him. Now 2017 became a grand addition to her accomplishments. Photo is a link!
This year, she contacted StoryCorps, an organization with the following Mission Statement:
"StoryCorps’ mission is to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world."
Her goal was to get an appointment for our son to visit and record at the StoryCorps Booth with his Dad in early December 2017. And she succeeded!
StoryCorps archive, housed in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., already holds over 65,000 interviews recorded live across the 50 states and Puerto Rico.
Many interviews are available online now and others in process for future online accessibility. Some other interviews may be available at American Folklife Center in Washington, D.C. when one personally visits there.
The StoryCorps Booth is located at the Atlanta History Center, the Atlanta partnership site for the project. During the conversation, Abe asked Murray questions about his life experiences.
Murray did what he does so well, he told stories. The entire recorded visit lasted about 40 minutes. Lots of stories were shared that day.
Melissa Terry, who produced the interview, explained that a link to listen would arrive by email in three to four months.
Imagine Murray's surprise when the promised email arrived only a few short days later - an excerpt from their conversation was selected to be broadcast the next week!
As a Father-Son experience, the interview further cemented already strong bonds. For the rest of us, as we listen to the four minute excerpt, we glimpse the diversity of human reactions. We learn again how person, such as Murray, who seeks positive results, finds enjoyment and inspiration in his actions every day.

From our family to you and yours, we extend wishes for peace and joy as we approach a New Year waiting for us to fill with excitement and success.
All the best - Lynn
