What to Do with Your Used Christmas Tree in 2017

Christmas treeIf you live in Clarksville TN and had a live Christmas tree, you may not know what you can do with it that is good for the environment. Good news is there is a park location in Clarksville where you can take your undecorated tree for disposal.

Montgomery County is sponsoring a collection site at Rotary Park located on Ashland City Hwy. (41A ByPass) 2308 Rotary Park Drive.  Look for the designated location near the front of the park. This location will be receiving trees until February 3, 2018. After this time the trees will be used to make a rich mulch for park areas and trails. Rotary Park has miles and miles of trails that are used daily by hikers and walkers in the Clarksville/Montgomery County area.

You can also consider these other things to do with your used fresh cut Christmas tree:

Place the tree at the edge of your property so birds and wildlife can use is to weather a storm.

Place birdseed or pine cones around it to provide food for birds during the winter.

If you have a pond or lake sink the tree and it will become a fish habitat.

Remove some of the smaller branches and place as protection at the bottom of your shrubs. They also add nutrients to the soil.

A stipped trunk (with branches removed) makes a good landscape timber or erosion controller.

Thre are more if you will click here.

What to Do with Your Used Christmas Tree that is environmentally friendly.

Good morning Debbie Reynolds ,

Great way to get the word out to your community on where to dispose of their Christmas trees. Our sons tree is very dry and think they will be taking theirs down soon rather than letter this year.

Good morning Debbie. Unfortunately in downtown Chicago, you put it in a tree bag and take it downstairs. Hopefully without a trail of needles in the hallway and elevator! Enjoy your day!

Good Morning Debbie Reynolds

In our area, some communities schedule a Christmas Tree bonfire as a way to dispose of the tree and socialize at the same time.

Debbie,

I loved all the suggestions for what to do with the live Christmas tree.  My favorite is to sink it in a lake for fish to enjoy.  A

Good evening Debbie - I guess we are lucky.  We can leave ours at the street edge and the town comes by with a chipper.

Debbie, these are some good recycling tips for used Christmas trees. We have weekly yard waste pick up so no special pick up days are scheduled.

This is timely information to share with area residents.

We are lucky that our city picks up the trees as part of the recycling program.
