Somehow, I ain't exactly incentivized.

Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

On my Linked-in feed, yesterday, I saw a post from a colleague who works for Exit Realty.  In fact he's a managing broker of an Exit Realty office.  He was posting how proud he was that another of his agents had reached the 100% mark.

So, for the uninitiated, that means that the agent had closed enough volume that her closings for the balance of the year would all be at 100% (the agency wouldn't take any cut at all... except of course for their E&O, and a modest desk fee).

He was very excited about the fact that this agent would now receive 100% of the commission for the balance of the year!  He was posting it, presumably, as a recruiting feature.  Ie: You, too, could be earning 100% if you jumped on board the Exit train.

Let's review for a moment, shall we?  Yesterday, December 30th, the agent reached the 100% milestone.  So for the balance of the year (that would be all of December 31st!!), any closings that occur would garner her 100% for that one..... entire..... day.

Hmm.... somehow I ain't exactly incentivized...

Alan May It could be that her contract does not end on December 31st and he could be referring to the remaining time on her contract.  Mine doesn't end on December 31st... My contract runs for 12 months from the day and month I joined the Brokerage.

Alan, sometimes we can get dazzled with numbers but fail to see the reality of what they mean.

Wise agents will do their studying.

Thanks for an interesting post.

And there would not be any closings because today is Sunday. The 30th was Saturday ... also no closings.  Think things through people.

It could be that agent's year does not end tonight.

I sure hope her year extends beyond ours, Kathleen..'cause otherwise she's banging her head against a cinder-block wall.

Alan May I know my cynicism is showing but my wife and I became our own broker a few years ago because we didn't see the value in "the deals". I think in the next five years it will be more pronounced. Just a thought, I hope he had a great 31st. He will need that for 2018 as he climbs the ladder again.

Nothing cynical about being your own broker.
