Starting the year with Green Chef and black-eyed peas

Real Estate Agent with The Virtual Real Estate Team 104556

I value time over most everything so anything that saves time so in addition to tech and Amazon Prime Green Chef supplies us with three premeasured organic meals every week. Last night we had rare seared tuna served over a spicy chipolte tomato sauce, a side salad, and jicame fries. Tonight we go traditional with what you see in the picture, a Black Eyed Pea Soup with a side of cornbread. The stew also has sweet potatoes and roasted red peppers with some collar greens and grape tomatoes. It is in a vegetable broth and the cornbread is cornmeal, corn, sour cream and cheese and an egg. The normal meals take a total of 35 ot 45 minutes.

If you go online to you can get two meals free to start. Chose from vegan, vegetarian, Omnivore, Paleo, Keto, and a few others. We like to get the pescatorian or the vegetarian with one fish. Before this we would go to Whole Foods daily because we did not like anything to eat that we had bought before that day but that has changed. No more what do you want honey? I don't know what do you want? No more getting in the car everyday to encounter brain dead drivers or tailgating NASCAR pickup drivers. OK, I will stop with the judgmental stuff and back to food. The other cool thing about Green Chef is that they give you free box giveaways that get people free food for trying it and if they subscribe you get a discount. I wanted to make this suggestion about something I think will enhance your 2018 so let me know what you think. Here's to a healthy 2018 and don't forget the workouts to go with it.

Joe- That's good especially for people on the go who want to eat healthily. Larry and I have found that we eat less although I know that we could be better.  Sheri Sperry - MCNE® and I grew up in Houston and it is ingrained in us to have our black-eyed peas on New Year's Day!!!

Morning Joe.

Black-eye peas was yesterday.  Today I believe the boss is making stir fry of something. Whatever it is, it will be tasty

I have a 94 year old neighbor who lives alone.  I am amazed at what that lady can get through her door with Amazon Prime.  Her refrigerator and freezer is always full.  I think it is wonderful that technology has brought us this far.  It will certainly aid in keeping seniors in their own homes longer.

Hi Joe

Sounds like some pretty good food. There are a number of these services around these days - Blue Apron, Hello Fresh to name a few. I think they can work well as long as you don't expect minimal preparation. We found the food from Blue Apron pretty good but some of the recipes simply took more prep time that we care to do on a regular basis.

Interesting. Glad you have found a convenient and healthy way to eat. Fortunately, our markets are easy to get to and the commute is enjoyable...otherwise, we might join you. D

Joe, Never heard of Green Chef, but it sounds like they are offering great healthy food.  Good for people who hate to cook and for those who do not have time to cook but want to eat healthy.  Jicame fries...I like their creativity!  Bon Appetite!

I am not sure I'd ever use a service because I very often shop from local vegetable growers.  My collards came from an across the street neighbor and they were awesome. But I really do LOVE to see the posts and create my own dishes based on the ingredients and that one sounds great.
