"Always defend your right to heal at your own pace."
How do I write a post about a challenge to make 2018 the best year yet when I don't believe it is possible, no matter what I do?
If that sounds negative, it's not. For me, it is just being realistic. Sometimes things happen in life that make you take pause. When my husband passed away in 2011, I thought I could never be happy again. Time is finally healing some of those feelings. I am finding a lot of things to be happy about in my life. Still, I have no illusions, no matter what I do, that 2018 will be my best year ever. And that is fine with me.
That said, it doesn't mean I can't make 2018 a great year. I already have a lot of plans to make it so.
1) I'm going to get back on the health train. I got out of my exercise routine last year by replacing it with "activity". Unfortunately, those activities weren't sustaining my health in the way I need it to. As soon as my eye Dr. gives me the go ahead, after my two cataract surgeries later this month, I will be joining a fitness center so I can add strength training to my routine. I already have a treadmill at home that I use daily.
2) Since I am retired, I have no particular professional goals. I do, however, have the ambition to share my knowledge, so I plan to continue posting on Active Rain. And, I very much enjoy the interaction with other professionals. I do have a goal of reaching the Millionaire mark on AR by the end of the year, so I need to average over 21,000 points per month. And, saving the best for last, I plan to have more meet-ups with AR members across the country as I travel. I totally enjoyed meeting several agents in the Phoenix area recently.
3) I have some home improvement projects I want to do/have done. My home was built in 1988, is very comfortable and has aged very well but there are some updating projects I'd like to get done. Exterior painting, replacing carpeting, replacing some fixtures, etc. I may not do them ALL this year, but I will do some.
Bonus: Random Acts Of Kindness are always on my radar. It isn't so much a goal, as constantly being on the look-out for ways to help others. Perhaps I can even help a few others have a good year, in spite of their challenges.
2018 won't likely be my best year ever but it will most certainly be a very good year, maybe even great!
