AR's Guiding Principles, Known as Weltanschauung

Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

Author: Patricia Feager, REALTOR®

The proverbial wisdom from "The Three Wise Monkeys," keeps me in check. An aspect that most resonates from the Weltanschauung: the guiding principles and philosophy of an organization; a world view, is point #10: "ActiveRain believes that it is in the best interests of real estate professionals to build a community that is focused on educating one another.

Every State has different regulations and requirements. Educating clients, customers, and the general public about issues affecting Texas Real Estate keeps others informed. Sharing relevant topics to consumers in TX, and to prospective buyers considering moving to my area is important to the success of my profession. Although other State Real Estate methods may be similar, it is my responsibility to refrain from making negative statements through my comments that have no bearing on other agent's industry contributions. Understanding the wisdom of The Three Wise Monkeys builds a better community.

Whether you are brand new to the business or been around for a while, if you want to fit into a culture, and you want to remain a part of the group, it is best to "See No Evil, Hear No Evil, and Speak No Evil." To be mindful of others, I keep a bronze statue on my desk to remind me every single day, that adults do not act like children. Therefore, it is best to comply with Professional Standards. Being a part of a Community requires respect and a sense of belonging where members foster mutual trust.

It is counter-productive and wrong to make criticizing remarks or derogatory comments on other agent's blog posts. Uninvited criticism diminishes the public perception of all professionals in the industry and violates AR's Community Guidelines and the Weltanschauung. The highest paid compliment I can give to another is professional courtesy, careful language, and thoughtful opinions to protect the integrity of the Real Estate Industry. The proverbial wisdom of the Three Wise Monkeys improves relationships on ActiveRain.

Yes, it is SO DIFFERENT in different areas. For example, huge difference in contracts in NY and GA in terms of cancellations - see what Larry and Sheila Agranoff had happen to them because they were "too good at what they did". Would have ended differently here in GA due to laws here.

And your comments about professional courtesy, careful language, and thoughtful opinions truly represent what the Founders intended when they set out the "W" and the Community Guidelines. Al the best - Lynn

Good morning, Patricia Feager you're right on target with the culture of ActiveRain.... it's a great place to learn, share, market and network... and if one does all of those skills well here, they've achieved what the founders of AR wanted to accomplish.

Nice job with this one, Patricia. The monkey statue is a good one to remind us of using restraint and good manners. Adults shouldn't act like children, but I've spent time around a few who do...nothing more off-putting than a pouting adult. Not attractive.

You are the second person here to write about this today. Made me think of my German and had to look this up. From Mirriam-Webster

Did You Know?

The German word Weltanschauung literally means "world view"; it combines "Welt" ("world") with "Anschauung" ("view"), which ultimately derives from the Middle High German verb schouwen ("to look at" or "to see"). When we first adopted it from German in the mid-19th century, "weltanschauung" referred to a philosophical view or apprehension of the universe, and this sense is still the most widely used. It can also describe a more general ideology or philosophy of life. cheers cvc

Patricia the ActiveRain "Weltanshauung" contains a lot of good principles, but you picked the one that stands out the most to me, and the one I will also be writing about.

Isn't that what we are here for?  We live in our own little bubble on how we think the world works, and we are wrong.  I'm sometimes surprised by how differently issues are handled across the country, how culture impacts the outcome.  It certainly gives me a broader view than just my own backyard.
