Doko Meadow in Blythewood, SC
In 2018 there are 52 Saturdays on the calendar. That's 52 opportunities to get out and enjoy your city and the surrounding areas. 52 chances to plan some time with your family and friends. So, for the rest of the year I plan to write a blog each week of places that I have enjoyed and maybe it will give you an idea of something or some place that you would like to enjoy. Each post will be done on Friday, so check back each week.
Located just off of Langford Rd, in Blythewood, SC is a public park known as Doko Meadows. It's home to Doko Manor which is a rental space for events such as conferences and weddings.
There is also a playground with swings and other equipment that my children have thoroughly enjoyed playing on since the park opened. A peaceful pond is located in the middle of the park with a great dock to hang out on. It's my understanding there are fish and you are allowed to fish in the dock area, but I have had no luck so far.
But in truth, a bad day if fishing with the kids is still a pretty good day for me. There are also a couple of large fields at the park that are perfect for Frisbee, throwing a football, or play a little soccer.
The park is pet friendly and I have seen many people bring their dogs out for a walk or just come out for a jog or walk themselves. There are several events throughout the year at Doko Meadows such as concerts and festivals. The last show we saw at Doko was an evening concert to dedicate the newest addition to the park of an amphitheater.
So if you find that you have some time on your hands one day or weekend and you would like to check out one of the local offerings. Come out to Blythewood and visit Doko Meadows.
