Friday Diary of a Charlotte Realtor® | 05JAN18
This is the first diary entry of 2018 - 2017 was a heck of a year! It's now time to begin anew, with positive visions and goals for business and love, light & laughter in our personal lives. We've had one heck of a week with the holiday on Monday and a full week of work packed into 3 days this week.
PERSONAL

Personally, we enjoyed Monday and our traditional Southern New Year's dinner - cooking all day while watching some great football games and taking down all of our Christmas decorations, packing them away and putting up the Valentine's Day decor! (Yes, I love holidays and fairy lights! LOL)
Tuesday morning, we got a call that my father-in-law had been taken to the hospital. Mr. Maxwell had Alzheimer's and had contracted the flu. By the time he arrived at the hospital, his fever was very high and the doctors could only make him comfortable and the family was called to be at his bedside as he probably wouldn't live for another day.
He died with all of his children at his side, knowing he was loved and that they were all together. He was crazy about having us altogether - he loved family dinners and gatherings and before dementialtook over his mind, he orchestrated many of these gatherings and dinners. Regardless of the amount of 'preparation' you have when you have a family member with Alzheimer's, you really can't 'prepare' for the loss of your loved one. We are blessed to have had him with us for as long as we did but, we know in our hearts of hearts that he truly is in a better place.
Oddly enough, when Ray & I got the call early Tuesday morning, we BOTH left home without our cell phones - that just NEVER happens! On our way home from the hospital, we realized that we were meant to leave our phones at home - and were thankful that we had.
BUSINESS
So, as I mentioned, my work this week was jam-packed into 3 days - and thankfully, with a lot of help, all had great outcomes! 3 Closings this month were all re-scheduled for one reason or another - to SOONER than originally scheduled, not delayed! 1 late Closing from last week was finally scheduled for early next week and documents are on their way back to Charlotte from California tonight. 2 'perfect' appraisals and two Due Diligence Periods came to an end yesterday and today - both without incidence and both working with wonderful listing agents on the other side of the deal (making everyone's lives so much more pleasant)!
One home went active today and it has been a crazy day of showings with a flurry of activity - we will likely be under Contract on this one by the end of the weekend!
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
May you all have a wonderful week ahead and whatever you do, never miss an opportunity to tell those you love just that - that you LOVE THEM.
