- Henry Doorly Zoo will be expanding. Currently the Zoo just opened a new butterfly and insect exhibit
- The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce is developing a strategy to lure additional types of business, jobs and visitors to South Omaha. Karla Ewert, chamber spokeswoman, "stressed the existing energy generated by small businesses and budding projects such as the 24th Street redesign, the Salvation Army's 30 million Kroc Center, South High's soon-to-be built athletic stadium and a new public library at Metropolitan Community College."
