The "First Lady of Luxury Real Estate" RIP

As most of you know there have bee mudslides in Southern California in the wealthy coastal enclave of Montecito. Sadly life has some twists and does not matter if you are poor or rich, famous or infamous, Mother Nature does not discriminate.

The Realtor known as the "first lady of luxury real estate" was killed when the mudslides pounded the town of 9000 people northwest of Los Angeles in Montecito.

Sadly, she was the founding partner of Riskin Partner in Montecito. Rebeca Riskin died early Tuesday, she was 61 years old.

Just to give you an idea she has sold more than $2.17 billion dollars worth or real estate during her career.

She was an exceptional woman and her legacy will continue to live on and thrive through her children Robert and Julia and her namesake firm Riskin Parners.

Not wanting to make light of the situation you never know when it is your turn? So with that said live your life every day as if it was your last and you will leave a bigger footprint.

As I see this, my take is what Marcus Aurelius said  thousands of years ago do not fear death, welcome it.

"...he who fears death fears either unconsciousness or another sort of consciousness Now if you will no longer be conscious you will not be conscious either of anything bad. If you are to take on a different consciousness, you will be a different behind and life will not cease..."

One never knows when it is our last day on earth, try to remember that and your life will be better how you handle it with that attitude. Again I am sorry for the loss of the family and the Realty Group.

If you are looking for a pet friendly Beverly Hills Realtor who can handle and sell the most difficult properties that no one else could, please reach out to me directly!! If you are considering buying or selling a home, a luxury home, luxury investment real estate, luxury vacation homes, or luxury beach properties in Southern California, Los Angeles, Century City, Westwood, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Marina Del Rey, Venice or Malibu, feel free to contact me at 310.486.1002 (m) or homes@endrebarath.com or visit one of my websites at http://www.endrebarath.com.  I contribute a portion of my commission to local animal rescue organizations.

Good morning, Endre... what a beautiful tribute. I read of her death yesterday evening. Did not really know who she was or her impact in your market. A tragic loss to say the least.

So sad. How terrible. Nice of you to write this testimonial to her.

It's not the loss of consciousness I fear, it's the loss of time with my loved ones...not being there with them. Fear of losing loved ones to death is right up there for me too.

It's a part of life we all have to accept. Some deal far better with it than others.

My sympathy to the Riskin family.

Oh how sad, she was quite young, relatively speaking. Nice of you to write a tribute too.

It's a true heart-break seeing all of the aftermath of the mudslides. We were there during the New Year's eve weekend visiting our mutual friends - selfishly, I'm glad we got to see things before this destruction. It's such a gorgeous, gorgeous area. I sure hope they can heal and that Mother Nature's kind from now on.

Though sad it is strangely almost a fitting way to go being someone who peddles dirt. I know, a weird sense of what is apropos, cheers cvc

Endre it is always sad to see someone that young lose their life, especially when they still had much more to contribute.

What a wonderful tribute to such an amazing woman, Endre. Such a tragic death - certainly not the way that one would ever think would be the way they would die - whether they feared death or not.  My heart goes out to her family and all of those suffering from this devastation in the area.

And, gosh, she was SO young...and that $2B+ number - I had to go back and read that again!  She certainly left a legacy that one hopes the children will covet and carry on.

What a sad result of the devastating fires and subsequent mudslides.  It sounds like she lived her life to the fullest and left behind an amazing legacy for her children.  May she rest in peace.
