Edventure Children's Museum

Edventure Children's Museum Columbia, SC  There's a three story kid in the middle of this place that is actually a vertical playground with a slide, tubes, netting, and all shorts of areas to explore. What more do I need to say about this establishment to make you want to go?

I guess if I am forced to press on with the praise I can bring myself to do so as Edventure has much more to offer than an indoor playground, but that is pretty awesome. There's a number of areas throughout the museum with rotating exhibits. Currently on exhibit entitled flight allows visitors to sit in the cockpit of an airplane and use flight simulators. There's a Maker Works area that allows everyone to use recycled materials to make their own creations including an attempt to make a flying device and test it out.

Edventure Children's Museum Columbia, SCAs the picture the right can attest to, there is an exhibit dedicated to the fire department with a firetruck, sliding pole, an interactive game to learn what to do in an emergency, and various equipment for the little ones to try on and check out.

Along a hallway on the interior of the building you will find a a library tied to the Richland County Public library system where you can not only see a few good books, but also check them out to take home.  Next to that is a small local grocery exhibit filled with items that contain working bar codes and a couple of registers where visitors can fill there carts and baskets with goodies then ring them up. My children have thoroughly enjoyed this area with the exception of me making them put everything in their cart back where they got it from when done.

Edventure Children's Museum Columbia, SC   A newsroom display will allow you to sit behind the desk and offer up the latest news and weather all while seeing yourself on T.V. Who wouldn't like to deliver the latest scoop?

The veterinarian office complete with stuffed cats and dogs for visitors to administer well being upon is a another popular spot. Swing by the farm area to sit on a John Deere and pick some peaches or gather a few eggs.

The cooking lab will let you try your hand at running a cafe while taking orders, making sandwiches and the occasional pizza. There is a seasonal butterfly garden where you can literally see nature come to life if you are there at the right time to see them hatch. There's plenty for the whole family to enjoy and plenty to keep the little people occupied for hours on end. And if you work up an appetite in the midst of all the fun the on site cafe has you covered.

Edventure memberships are available and offer unlimited visits for a year and guest passes starting at $129 dollars a year.

Edventure Children's Museum is open Monday through Sunday and general admission is $11.50 for adults and children with discounts offered to groups, seniors, and military. Children under 2 enter for free.
