Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Is A Day To Honor A Great Man

I am amazed to understand that it has been so many years since his assassination.  The years have passed so quickly.

We have activities in our community to celebrate this holiday.

Good morning again George. Your insight as someone born elsewhere is important.

George Souto - I think anyone who was born a U.S. Citizen and remembers the growing pains America went through the Civil Rights Movement has vivid memories. It's rare that I hear a truthful perspective from a young boy's point of view who wasn't born in America and what kind of influence Martin Luther King had on you. Obviously, he made a strong first impression on you and what you could do for this country. 

Let me speak on behalf of members of ActiveRain... George, you have become a credible voice here on ActiveRain. When it comes to explaining the mortgage changes and what it takes to obtain a mortgage, you have set the bar high. Plus, you're consistent. You write meaningful posts that are always current and very important to know. The Real Estate industry is forever changing, but when it comes to keeping Agents and Consumers abreast of current affairs and how it impacts Buyers, you are always someone others can count on for giving us the truth.

George wonderful tribute to a great man that changed many, many things for the better. I vaguely remember much about that time but I've watched many a documentary about his life.  I didn't know you grew up in another country! I have many friends from all over the world and what I love is the perspective we all bring to the conversation.

Hi George, this is a wonderful tribute to a great, great man.  I recently watched a Netflix special with Letterman - he was interviewing Obama, but the civil rights movement also came up. It's just incredible to me how brave so many people were during a very scary time in our history. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr paid the ultimate price for standing up for human rights, and for working to make changes - for the better. 

Good afternoon George - This April it is 50 years since his assasination and I remember that day.  We honor his dream today.

George, we had or annual MLK walk this morning. THe community gathers at the courthouse and march down main street to the Methodist United Church for lunch.  

Yes, it is George.  I am sad this year as I can see there's still much to do to help complete his vision.

Hi George.  MLK had an uncommon compassion for all mankind and a determination to make a difference.  He was a great man.

Martin Luther King was indeed a special man with a wonderful vision... and no one in the civil rights movement has come close to stepping into his shoes since.

He had a magnetism that was just right for the time. His words are some of the most famous in history.
