Is the house is HAUNTED - No it's Alexa - Whose Alexa?

RUN - Yells the buyer. The house is haunted. No the other buyer says, I know that voice. It's Alexa. Well it was the AMAZON ECHO and it was talking to us as we saw this Manchester NH. area home For Sale.

I guess the Buyers voice was similar to the home owner, but she had it playing music, turned the lights on and got me wondering? Does it record everything we say as we look at the home For Sale?

I am not sure. Do you?

I leave you with my infamous saying. There is a difference from agent to agent.  That a Buyer or Seller should not choose just any agent, choose the BEST agent for the job. Choose a better agent for better results.

My philosophy is simple, provide more personal and professional service to guide my clients through each step of the buying or selling process. All Agents are not created equal and every buyer or seller should take the time to hire the BEST not just the biggest. Those that hire me, find a dedication like no other.

Yes the buyer made an offer by the way, hopefully we hear soon.

I must be the only person who does not have one, but I had to look it up.

  • Just ask Alexa to check your calendar, weather, traffic, and sports scores, manage to-do and shopping lists, control your compatible smart lights, thermostats, garage doors, sprinklers, and more
    • Just ask for a song, artist, or genre from Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, and more. With multi-room music, you can play music on compatible Echo devices in different rooms. Echo can also play audiobooks, radio stations, news briefs, and more.
    • Call or message almost anyone hands-free with your Echo device. Also, instantly connect to other Echo devices in your home using just your voice.
    • CHECK OUT THE ECHO BY CLICKING HERE

Scott Godzyk - I've wondered about Alexa too. It's times like this I wish Noah Seidenberg was still around on AR to offer up his guru advice on topics like this.

Not knowing what Alexa can and can't do and how it impacts the Agent and buyers who doesn't know is creepy to me. Mum's the word is not good advice for any agent to give their buyers when looking at property. When it comes to buying and selling, privacy goes both ways.

When you hear a voice and no is talking, it could have been haunted Sheila Anderson. The buyers 2 kids had fun teasing each other with that thought

I am doing the same Joan Cox , we actually had a case where a seller question my buyer on what they said at an inspection and learned they were recording sound and video

Scott I just happened to see a news segment on these kind of devices and it's only going to become more invasive - I think all should be mindful of this 'smart' hearing, viewing, recording.  I've been in a lot of homes that I know the seller is watching, hearing and buyers know not to say a word.

I got an Echo as a gift and sold it immediately.  Not interested.  And it would creep me out to be in a home with one that was yapping.

Scott, I've heard of them, but I think I've only seen a couple in homes I've shown (so far).  I expect in time they'll be more common.  Personally, I don't think I'm at the point in my life where I want to turn over the chores that the bots can do.  Other than our Roomba...go get 'em little guy!

Those things creep me out. I'm not a fan and don't use it in my house. I read online about a couple that is getting divorced after the husband found out his wife was cheating when Alexa replied using the "boyfriend's" name. Ouch.

Hi Scott- we've had the Amazon Echo for a few years and enjoy it but don't use it to the full extent it could be used. It's near our television and every once in a while she'll chime in when they play an Echo ad on television.

Morning Scott.

Good question, if it records all of the conversation I wonder how one retrieves it? Anyway, mum's the word when showing homes, you just never know

Hi Scott.  Add me to the list of those without an Alexa unit yet... or ever.  There are enough intrusions into our lives without me inviting them into my home.  Yes, Alexa can do some cool stuff but who all might be listening?  Count me out!

Haha! That's so funny! I don't have one and understand they can hear what you say. There are so many people now with nanny cams and video security systems that we tell our clients to assume anything you do and say in a house can be seen and heard.
