38th Annual Brooksville Raid Reenactment 2018

Wayne Martin you are right, there are sometimes several hundred reenactors plus all the support people bringing history to life. For many it's a family thing. 

Nina Hollander yes, there are several others throughout the state. 

Myrl Jeffcoat it sure is and every year it's a little different. 

Patricia Feager thank you, that is very true. Especially by visiting the "camps", one can learn a lot about life along and off the battle field during that period of time. 

Beth Atalay there is another one that takes place in Dade City which would be even closer to you!
Brad Thomsen yes, the Brooksville Raid was about supplies for the troops and the confederates landed at the small port of Bayport (which is now nothing but a fishing dock and boat launch). There is a lot of history everywhere, we just have to look around and see and learn. 

Grant Schneider yes, they are definitely dedicated and for some it's something the whole family gets involved with.

It's about learning about and from  history. How can you avoid history's mistakes if you constantly try to rewrite or destroy it?

Ron and Alexandra Seigel there are several other places in Florida where they do have reenactments although I've only been to this one thus far. 

Rebecca Gaujot as long as it's dry, it'll be fine. One year, it had to be cancelled half way through because of heavy rains and wind. Most years, the weather has cooperated and I hope this will be the case this year as well. As you can see on the photo, last year, people showed up in T-Shirts and shorts.

Joan Cox when I first moved here and heard about it, I didn't think I would like it but it turned out that I have hardly missed one ever since!

Roy Kelley we always plan on being there at least on one of the days. We enjoy talking to the reenactors and sutlers (store owners).
