"I really don't think life is about the
I-could-have-beens.
Life is only abou the I-tried-to-do.
I don't want the failure, but
I can't imagine that I'd forgive myself if I didn't try" -Nikki Giovanni
Quote #23 from Dr. Joe Tichio's book.
Greatest Inspirational Quotes: 365 days to more Happiness, Success, and Motivation
Happy New Year for the 18th time! Today's daily dose of Organek Food for Thought combines Think and Grow Rich's Chapter 5 on Specialized knowledge and Nikki Giovanni's quote on prefering having a life of "I-tried-to-do's" vs. "I-could-have-been's".
Think And Grow Rich's "Specialized Knowledge". Specialized knowledge is "Personal experiences or observations". My takeaway from the fourth step towards riches is, Specialized knowledge isn't something you stumble upon; it is the result of the pursuit of knowing all you can about what you desire.
Andrew Carnegie started out as an immigrant child worker in a cotton factory as a bobbin boy and worked his way up to become one of the wealthiest men in America. His passion was the production of steel and he ran a mastermind of men that were experts in increasing production and reducing inefficiencies of steel. His knowledge of steel and the wealth he generated from that knowledge epitmizes "Specialized Knowledge".
The Quote (I'm going to keep it the way it was in the book out of respect to the author):
"I really don't think life is about the
I-ould-have-beens.
Life is only abou the I-tried-to-do.
I don't want the failure, but
I can't imagine that I'd forgive myself if I didn't try"
-Nikki Giovanni
This woman has some pretty amazing accomplishments. I reference some in the video. I am floored by her accomplishments. She is true to her poem/quote above. She sure as heck can't say she "could have been" as she "ACTUALLY BECAME SOMETHING GREAT". Her quote/poem makes me wonder if she wrote it and then became great or if it was after some success. Either way, her knowledge of her craft and of her topic makes her epitomize that quote/poem. (And yes, I didn't just learn the word "epitomize" today. It was just fitting twice.)
The mash-up: Best described in four words: Andrew Carnegie and Nikki Giovanni. These two great Americans mash it up perfectly. From humble beginnings to blessing the world.
