What You Can Do In January

Why do we always ask What You Can Do In January? I remember all those years ago when my kids were at home. In the winter time (or if it was cold and rainy), you would always get the same old question, "What Can I Do?" or the typical "Cathy hit me!"

But that didn't last long during the winter time. We had a lovely ranch with rolling hills that were safe enough for all the kids to go sledding. It wouldn't take long for each of them to get their snow suits and boots on and out the door they would go. Depending on the temperature they would return with the rosiest cheeks and runny noses. We would all gather for cookies and hot chocolate to warm up.

Now my kids are grown and we've moved away from out ranch. So Granny's gotta go pick the kids up and take them to the sledding hill. Not the same, but we still end with hot chocolate and cookies at my house.

What else is going on In Cheyenne, you may ask?

SATURDAY

Cheyenne's March on Wyoming.

We  will unite again for the Women’s March on Wyoming, continuing to stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families -- recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our state and country.  We will Meet at the Depot Plaza and march to the Capitol starting at 10 a.m. so get there early! It's going to be chilly so dress for the weather and bring yourself some water to drink. This is a special walk that I was highly involved in with women.

Well, tomorrow (Saturday the 21st)  is the FIREFIGHTERS CHILI COOK-OFF FOR COMMUNITY:  Our Firefighters are going to have a big chili cookoff and we NEED judges from Cheyenne to come down and help us out! Which District will win? Tough to say, but you can help! Admission is free and it starts at 3:00 p.m.  at the Laramie County Fire District #6-Burns Station. Come on down and cheer for your own district!

SUNDAY

Can you imagine yoga and beer together? Tomorrow at Freedom's Edge Brewing Company. One of my favorite activities is on Sunday. It's called Detox Retox. Join Theresa, Muriah, Joel, Shane and Adam for an hour long yoga class inside the brewery followed by one of their delicious pints and great community connection. Theresa will guide you through a delicious meditation with your beer sample to expose you to the sight, smell, texture and feel of the beer on your tongue and in your mouth. Join us at Freedom's Edge Brewing Company. Admission is $20 and the time is 11:00 - 1:00 p.m.

In case you're not into yoga, check out Emma's OldTime Photos at the Depot from 11:00 - 3:00 p.m. Enrich your Western experience.  Emma's Old Time Photos lets you save a memory for your future of the way things were in the past. Lobby of the Historic Depot. @emmasoldtimephotos

Snickerdoodle cookies are my favorite. Feel free to stop by and drop some off.If that's not enough to choose from, or it's just too cold, stay home and bake me some cookies! My favorite are snickerdoodles. Or maybe I just like to say Snickerdoodles!

Let me know what you ended up doing this weekend. Some days I think I'm getting to old for these outdoor events anymore, but I think I could give a downward dog a try for a beer!
