Good morning, Nina.  This is really interesting.  When all is said and done (GFA), our rates seem to be similar.  We pay first 1/2 by the end of April and second 1/2 by the end of October.

Nina Hollander - This information you provided is so important. With so many people relocating, it's easy to get confused or not even know about how State Taxes work. You did a great job explaining what the expectations are in NC and the graphics are terrific!

Carol Williams ~ hi Carol... here we don't pay but once a year and in reality most people don't pay at all... taxes are part of their mortgage payment and the lender pays the annual bill at the end of the year.

Mortgages are often set up that way here too.  If a person puts enough down they have the option whether to add it into their mortgage or pay independently.  I liked having the choice.

Patricia Feager ~ not only do property taxes change from state to state, in NC how they are calculated changes from county to county. Very confusing for many people... and I work actively in two states and six counties.

Will Hamm ~ hi Will... why should any of us like paying taxes? Our government wastes our money in ways we would never.

Hi Nina: I see that although Mecklenburg's taxes seem to be the highest, the tax rate has remained unchanged although other rates are going up, not Mecklenburg's. Like somebody said, hey, Mecklenburg's tax rate is high enough. Just leave it alone and raise everybody else's.

Nina, This is good information that people need to know. Late payment, in most cases, means late fees and/or other $$$ penalties associated with it.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®,CRS, ~ hi Paul... I like to look over market reports from other areas because Charlotte is a huge destination city and I never know from where someone is moving... it always impressed them when I know something about their housing market. But it also helps me understand what a relocatee's expectations might be when they come here to house hunt.

HI Elizabeth... actually, Meck County's taxes are not the highest. Gaston County's are... but I don't sell enough in Gaston County to spend a lot of time looking for that information. Meck County is also the largest county in the area and provides services to residents that other counties do not provide (trash pick up being one of them).
