"A sculptor has the skill to free what is trapped within the mass of a substance."
One of the lovely things about exploring downtown Wenatchee and along the Riverfront Loop Trail is that there are one-of-a-kind sculptures waiting at nearly every turn.
In 1994 the idea of scattering sculptures throughout Wenatchee and along the Loop River Trail was proposed to the Wenatchee Arts Commission. An invetigative committee was formed and the Art On The Avenues organization was born.
According to the Art On The Avenues website:
"While AOTA began in 1995 with only 20 sculptures, there are now 88 pieces in the exhibit which are displayed from the Loop Trail throughout Wenatchee and beyond. 27 are owned by the city, 26 belong to AOTA, 6 are privately owned, and 29 are visiting as part of the two-year rotation and are for sale."

There is an amazing array of artists represented in the sculptures placed around the area. The artists put their work out on consignment, hoping it will sell. Those that sell stay. Those that do not sell are removed and a new sculpture replaces it.
Come visit Wenatchee and enjoy an artsy treasure hunt.
