Voila You Have A Blog
I just happened to wander into Active Rain yesterday while I was researching blogs and SEO. I have never blogged before, and quite frankly I didn't know exactly what a blog was. I was looking around on Active Rain and I happened to land on Margaret Rome's blog about blogging. Imagine that! Her words were very inspirational, and she motivated me to write my first blog last night. She writes that it doesn't have to be perfect, just get your ideas out there. I started to think about it, and she is right. I think what draws some of our clients to us, is when they feel they can relate to us. I don't have the best grammar or writing structure. I was more of a math, science, and history student. English was not my favorite subject. So maybe all of those people that didn't do well in English will see my blogs, and relate to them. Hopefully this novice attempt at blog "numero dos", will inspire someone else to write a blog that has been thinking about doing so for a while. Please take the time to read Margaret Rome's blog below.
I want to thank Margaret for reaching out to me today, to give me some valuable information about blogging. It's day number two for me on Active Rain. I'm liking the comradery and the great information everyone has been so generous to give me. As Margaret Rome says,"Voila You Have A Blog."
While speaking to a member this week, they shared their desire to get back to blogging.
Their last post, almost 3 months ago, was well written with lots of good information, good eye candy and quite professional.
So I asked why haven't you written lately?
Their response was interesting ...
"I'm too much of perfectionist to put that kind of time in."
We talked about what she wanted to accomplish.. her own blog in her own voice.
Each blog does not have to be a Pulitzer Prize master piece.
We are real estate professionals not professional bloggers.
Being busy producing Realtors® we are using our blogs as a way to market ourselves and our properties. We need to be found on social media. We want to be transparent to future and present clients.
If you are going to wait until you write the perfect post, with the perfect set of photos, with a message to reach everyone...you may not be blogging very much.
There are some easier ways to get into that blogging grove.
Relax a bit, take a deep breath.
Go to your smart phone and see what photos you have taken in the past few days. I bet some of them are interesting enough to write a few paragraphs...after all they caught your eye. Now go share one or two in a blog.
My friend William Johnson
taught me many years ago about this technique.
He called it a photo blog. One picture, 50 words, put it in a few groups, put in your tag words, check your spelling, click save, review, and then hit publish.
And....
You have a blog!
