Friday Diary of a Charlotte Realtor® - 26JAN18
What a delightful week this was! The weather was a bit cooler than our normal January temperatures but, the sun was shining and business is booming - so, no complaints about the chill in the air at all!
Mondays are always my 'craziest' days - the phone rings from the time I get up until 9PM! All of the attorney's offices and lenders are back in full swing from having the weekend off and there is plenty of catching up to do.
This Monday, I had a relocation client who was referred to me by past clients come into town. Knowing that my phone would not stop ringing, I forwarded everything to Christina and gave 100% of my focus to my new buyer. We had a wonderful time - meeting the family and showing homes in my own community, SouthPark.
At the end of the day, the buyer said, "I was planning to interview my boy's [adult] real estate agents but, a referral coming from 'Jane & Jim' can't be beaten! They are incredibly picky people and they loved you!" Well, two things about that - first, those buyers were some of the most wonderful buyers I've ever worked with - they were not difficult or demanding at all - they were fabulous! I never pegged them as being picky which was SUCH a compliment, I thought. Secondly, the stress of a new buyer on Monday is forever a non-issue for me! How can you walk away from that feeling any stress at all?
I returned to my Monday catch-up with very little left to do - everything had been resolved or addressed with the lenders & attorneys! KUDOS to my amazing Christina - she's a go-getter that can work circles around 10 people! At the end of the day, she's asking for more. She's unbelievable!
Tuesday and Wednesday were spent with another luxury buyer that I've been working with to find a home, also in my community of SouthPark. When you live in a metropolitan area, showings in your own backyard are always a dream come true.
Wednesday I had someone ask about the 'abysmal' January we were having. Well, I've had a great January (my best yet). So, I checked BrokerMetrics to see how everyone was doing. To my surprise, I found that, for the first time, I was #1 in Charlotte - atop over 11,000 agents!! I typically 'live' in the top 1% but, have never been #1. So, I shared it with my husband and, of course, he shared it with the team - telling them to post it on social media because I wouldn't! So, I shared it, as did my team, and they have all gotten calls, texts, emails (as have I) about that one post!
I am confident that by the end of the month, I won't be in that top slot but, for now, I'm excited to be beating out all of those builders! LOL
Yesterday, I Closed a co-op with parents of a past client who also lives in Myers Park, where the co-op is located. It was a flawless experience and arriving at Closing, I realized that the woman who was representing the seller was someone I went to church with 30 years ago! Our boys are the same age and her brother was a Deacon in the church, who stood by both of my boys when they were Baptized! How small is this world?!
*Photo of the co-op we just Closed - taken on our snow day this year, during the inspection!
Today, I drove to Atlanta for the AR area meet-up tomorrow. Sally K. & David L. Hanson and I spent the evening together and had a blast! We're all looking forward to seeing what tomorrow's meet up has in store for us. For tonight, those Hansons Both wore me out and I'm actually turning in early for tomorrow's exciting meet-up!
Stay tuned for more tomorrow (and some photos too)!
