A Day in the Life...ActiveRain Members ROCK!
Well, this post is definitely 24 hours late - if not more! I had the great fortune to be invited to a gathering of some of my Atlanta friends for their meet-up that Lynn B. Friedman was hosting. Most of the older members (and I don't mean 'age' either - just members from 2006 - 2008!) know that when you say meet-up, if at all possible, I'm there!
I've met so many members over the years and some of them were going to be at the AR meet-up in Atlanta, as were other members I had never met over the years. So, I was excited to see them all.
I was thrilled to also get to meet my Wisconsin AR buddy, Sally Hanson & her hubby, David as they were going to be in Atlanta for a personal meeting (Sally K. & David L. Hanson ). After many conversations with Sally, I knew she was going to be one of those, 'WYSIWYG' AR members. Well, I'm here to tell you, she's all that and MORE! I have to tell you though, she's pint-sized and full of punch! Okay, she's about a foot shorter than I am so, we have been being called Mutt & Jeff, as I have with many of my friends who are much shorter than I! LOL
Seriosly, Sally & David are the most delightful, generous couple you will ever meet. I had the priviledge of spending Friday evening with them and to dine out, Cajun-style, in Atlanta. We had wonderful conversation and finally realized we had to go to bed so we could get up the following morning to meet up with the Atlanta peeps.
It was such a treat seeing Lynn B. Friedman, Tammy Lankford, Thom Abbott and my 'ringing and singing' agent, Tim Maitski! Tammy's husband, Don, joined her and we also got to meet Michelle Francis, Jenna Dixon and @Rodney Mason. We had such a great meet-up and I truly believe we could have all stayed until the next day! Conversation was as though we had all been friends forever...and we have been.
There's just no place like ActiveRain - we've never met, yet we felt we'd known one another for years. We all expected to see something purple from Sally, something homemade and amazing from Tammy and laugh until our cheeks hurt, listening to Thom!
Lynn did a fabulous job selecting the restaurant and directing everyone to the right location and the restaurant couldn't have been better either! They catered to us like we were royalty and the food was fantastic.
If you hear of an AR meet-up in your area, take the time to meet your peers - there are so many benefits to doing so and so much to share. I assure you, you'll love the experience and like me, won't want to leave!!
