Wordless Wednesday...Art? Engineering Feat?

While I’m not overly fond of spiders, I have always been fascinated by spider webs. How could they possibly weave and spin and cross and do whatever they do to make those pesky things that we run into when out enjoying Mom Nature.

Just a few facts…

“A garden spider can produce as many as seven types of silk…”

“Spiders have a design sense.”

Spiders often replace their web every day.”

~There are different types of spider webs and they have different uses.

“Will you walk into my parlour?” said the spider to the fly.

Kathy, they are one of Nature's master architects. The delicate weaving of those silvery webs is such a work of art. I love your appreciation of Nature. :)

Those are both great photos of webs. I don't like spiders or walking into spider webs, but I like looking at them.

This one is a work of art.  Amazing how they can weave such a thing of beauty.  Now don't smush it.

Kathy each spider web I have seen seems to be different from all others.

I did not know the facts you shared about spiders.

I am always amazed at how quickly spiders seem to be able to spin a web. We have Garden Spiders all around our yard in the Spring and Summer, they help keep the bugs down so I never bother them.

"Oh what a tangled web we weave...."

Spiders are quite the talented webmasters, and fast, too! Now their artwork can be admired indefinitely through your artistic photo.

You and I both, Kathy!  I have often marveled at the creative web design that spiders weave.  When you consider how small their brain must be, it truly is amazing.

Hi Andrew Mooers | 207.532.6573 I do my best to steer clear of the webs but sometimes they appear out of nowhere!

Ron and Alexandra Seigel oh yes, I love that spider web with bling!

Gabe Sanders I haven't seen that many here but I remember when I went to Larry's hunting camp in South Texas and heard of recluse spiders.

Dorie Dillard I marvel at how they can stretch and build them over several feet.

Roy Kelley Wish I had your expertise with a camera to capture the photos.

Wayne Martin I've had too many mornings when I walked out only to run into a big spider web.

Donald Urschalitz When I was about 9 and at Girl Scout camp we were stuck in a cabin one rainy Saturday. In the cabin were hoards of Daddy-Long-Legs.

Joe Pryor I also love watching ants!!

Brian England wonder what kind of photos of spider webs Trish Van Housen could get.

Belinda Spillman LOL...I really do try to leave them alone. Now, I have been known to accidentally walk into one.

Mary Yonkers I have to admit that I'd probably run if I saw a big hairy one.

George Souto I've bookmarked some sites and want to learn more about them.

JL Boney, III I often see those little crab-like spiders caught in them.

Pat Starnes, Brandon, MS Thank you!  I've seen some webs that were too high in the trees for me to get a good photograph.

Thank you Myrl Jeffcoat    I was looking at a spiderweb today on our walk. It went from one palm tree to another.

Morning Kathy.

Spiders don't bother me as long as they stay outside.  Just like the spider we all weave our own webs to attract buyers and sellers
