Red Caboose Winery - Meridian, Texas 76665

Red Caboose Winery - Meridian,Texas 76665 along with the  Red Caboose Tasting Room in Clifton, Texas is becoming quite the draw for nearby cities such as Dallas/Fort Worth.  

This past Sunday, I heard that there would be live music on Sunday afternoon along with a tasting of the Winemakers private reserves.  This piqued my interest, so I drove over to Clifton to enjoy the day.

The band was playing when I arrived, I found an open seat at the end of the bar.  I was greeted by the Winemaker, Gary  McKibben and his friend Anja.  Both made a point to welcome the guests and answer any questions about the tastings.

I chose to simply have a glass of Merlot and not partake in the 6 glass tasting.    The Merlot was wonderful. While there, I met several new people and listened to conversation and asked questions in order to learn about the Red Caboose Winery. 

It seems that Mr. McKibben had purchased a ranch near Meridian Texas in an effort to have a place to escape from the city.  Meridian, Texas is located approximately 90 miles southwest of Dallas and approximately 130 miles north of Austin.  

After purchasing the ranch, he stumbled upon several varieties of grapes.  This sparked an interest if winemaking  that he had from his college days.  The purchase of the ranch and this rekindled spark prompted Mr. McKibbin and his son Evan to design and create the Winery, and they have been making award winning wines since!

The tasting room in Clifton has all sorts of unique, one of a kind wine gifts.  Beautifully packaged wines and lots of character.  The staff was super friendly and helpful.   I will definitely return and you should too!

I am looking forward to attending the "Cork and Fork" events that will be held at the Meridian, Texas location this spring and summer.  This is where it all starts...at .the vineyard.  

Being from Meridian, Texas and knowing the location of the winery, I can only imagine the phenomenal views. bright starry skies and sheer relaxation that will be found while sitting on the deck enjoying a  glass of Red Caboose Wine.
