SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch Tuesday February 6, 2018 Kennedy Space Center
UPDATE: LAUNCH IS NOW SET FOR 3:45pm. DELAY IS CAUSED BY UPPER LEVEL WINDS
Residents of Cocoa Beach and Cape Canaveral (also known as Florida's Space Coast) are preparing for the launch of the SpaceX Falcon Heavy on Tuesday, February 6, 2018.
The Falcon Heavy is currenty set to liftoff at 1:30pm from Launch Complex 39A at Kennedy Space Center with a window lasting two and one-half (2-1/2) hours. There is an 80% chance of favorable weather for the launch and temperatures are expected to be in the 70s.
If the launch is delayed until Wednesday, the weather is expected to be about the same as Tuesday with a 70% chance of good conditions.
SpaceX will attempt to land all three first stages of the rocket...two at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and one on the drone ship a few hundred miles off Florida's East Coast. Sonic booms will rock the Space Coast when that occurs.
This launch is an historic event with 100,000 visitors expected to view the launch and enjoy all that the Cocoa Beach area has to offer. The best viewing spots will fill up quickly so plan to arrive early and relax until launch time.
