Hiking and Biking Trail Under Power Lines

Montgomery County, Maryland is building a 6-mile trail from North Potomac to Germantown on the right-of-way owned by PEPCO under its power lines. Many communities could follow this lead by developing trails within power line easements.

Good morning Roy. I had a walking and bicycle trail behind my first home thanks to a powerline easement in many areas. Went for miles. Enjoy you day!

Seems like a good use of space, but I think I would still prefer to hike in the hills where there isn't even any power available.

That is nice project, here they have been trasnforming all old railroad lines to the rail trail which goes from one side to the other of the state. Even paved through the city and now suburban areas with cross lights at intersection of major roads.

Good advice. We have a public dog park and community gardens under some local power lines, it makes such good sense. D

Hi Roy,
That would be a good use of the land under power line easements.

I like that idea but wonder if there would be objections from the radiation. Somebody will find something to complain about.

Non-riders who park at Metro garages and lots but who don't use Metrorail will see their fees increase, ranging from $8.70 to $10 depending on the location. Get all the details here.
