Are You Winner Picking Active Rain?

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker 69190

Blythewood, SC Homes for Sale  Do you know what a winner picker is? Maybe you know a few and just don't realize it. Have you noticed a few of your friends walking around with new Eagles hats now that they won the Super Bowl but that's the first time they've ever been an Eagles fan? Maybe you had some friends suddenly rocking a Crimson Tide jersey since Alabama won another national championship, but you know they've never watched a game in their life. Those are winner pickers. People that only seem to pull for winning teams and jump on the bandwagon when times are good. I am a Bears fan so it's easy to say I am no winner picker my friend.

Blythewood, SC Homes for Sale You know you can be somewhat a winner picker here on Active Rain. Do you find yourself only commenting on the featured posts? The fact of the matter is that the featured posts are usually the cream of the crop and it's always good to check them out, but there are only so many.

That being said there are a lot of really great posts here that may not make it into the Daily Drop or become a featured post. If you just skim over the highlights, you can miss a deal of helpful info that is available to you if you are willing to dig a little deeper. So next chance you get, visit a few groups or click on an author you've never read before. You may be surprised by what you find and it really won't be that painful either. Besides, it's not like I'm asking you to be a Bears fan or anything. And you can even keep your brand new Eagles hat.

Wished for a couple weeks, the features would be never featured before, a new crop of fresh blog posts. When it is the same old group, it seems stales, stagnant and we are not tapping into the close to 300,000 other talented industry information providers. I search out tech posts that will save time, do a better job promoting your properties, your local area using all the neat media devices and platforms available.

I hear you.  But time is precious.  I follow the 80/20 rule.  20% of the posts will give you 80% of the value.  I'm relying on the feature gods to sort out the 20% for me.  If there's time left over, I'll sort through the most recent ones or go through my follow list.

Congratulations on the feature, i love your blog because so many only comment on features. I always start with the features and soon go check out my favorites. Then search the rolls for new blogs to teach me or entertain me.

Good morning, JL!

Yes, there are so many posts to read in AR, and so much to learn from them.  We can always learn from others' experiences.  I begin with the feature posts, then work my way to other posts.

Well as a former WI resident,  I have stuck by my teams through and through.  Thankfully the Packers are still ahead of the Bears and we can still talk..haha.

Great Post,  and very true, there are many "winner pickers" out there, but keep putting up good reads such as this, you will not only get more likes, you will have won more than the Bears..

Thanks for a good morning read

I personally like to click on the link at the bottom right of all the pages that says recent blog posts. I get to read lots of good blog posts and some of those do rise to the top.

I hit the folks I normally engage with first..and if a title jumps out at me I go there next, then I look at the featured, after that, I dig deeper. :)

Hi JL, I don't look at the featured posts specifically, start commenting on those I follow first. Sometimes, the title catches my eye so I may click on it as well.

Nope, not me.

I go directly to my Home Page and proceed to visit the members who have recently commented on one of my posts so I can reciprocate with a comment for them.

Next, I go to the Social Blogs link (I think that is what it is called.) to see what the bloggers I follow have written.

If time permits, I then visit the Featured posts.

Erika - I am usually late on the comments too, but I still try to say something good.

Kathy - I usually start with those that I follow as well.

Dorie -  I start with those I follow and realize that my eyes wander to the blog roll on the page and click if a title catches my attention.

Steffy - Sounds like you've got the right idea to me and the email does make it easy.

Margaret - It would have served me right to get no comments once the post was featured. Glad I could teach you a new phrase.

Bruce - Sorry about the high tuition but I think Columbia is a beautiful place as well. Let me know if you ever come back though.

Jeff - I think we all have our favorites, I do too.

Tyler - AR has a ton to offer and it's not hard to find. The Suns drafted Devon Booker from Kentucky a few years ago and I love Wildcats Basketball so I have watched Phoenix play a few times to see him.

Tammy - I like to dig through and see what I missed after I check on those that I follow.

Laura - I enjoy it here and have met many good people through AR. Engaging and connecting is the name of the game.

Maureen - Now you have a new phrase to throw out at people.

Andrew - There is no lack of talented people to learn from here but they do get buried away sometimes. It's worth a little digging to find them though.

Tim - I am sure that rule helps you learn a lot and save time which is always precious. There are just some good finds here that don't make the front page.

Scott - That sounds like a good system and you still get to find new people.

Britgita - There is a ton of information on here and no one can read it all, but spreading the love is a good thing.

Erik - I think most teams will continue to win more than the Bears and the Packers will for sure in the near future.

Mike - That sounds like a good plan.

Debb and Bernie - Digging deeper is always a good policy when you can do it.

Beth - I do the same thing a lot as well.

Sharon - I like to reciprocate comments when I can as well.

Winner picker is a new term to me as well.  I guess I  am only guilty about half the time,  I check the featured posts every other day and alternate to the regular blog roll on the other days.  My favorite is Just for humor, to cheer myself up.

Congrats on being featured, hey makes you a winner, on another day I'd have missed it.

I often look for posts that are not featured and find they have great value.

I also think many more posts are feature worthy=winners.

Corey - I always check in on those I subscribe to before wandering off.

Michael - I am sure you can find a lot of good reads that way.

Bill - Nothing wrong with finding some humor to cheer you up my friend. Having a positive mindset is important in this business.

John - There are many I see here that I believe are worthy of a star.

Guilty as charged - but only because of time constraints. When I do have the time I love to check out the people I follow, then I go to groups, then lastly, the blog roll. There is a LOT here . . .

(. . . and wait, BEARS fan?? Where did that come from - we can't give our season tickets away!)

I like to check out groups as well. I have no good excuse for being a Bears fan, I was born here in Columbia and just started pulling for them as a child.

Is it just me, or does it seem like I keep seeing the same old faces on the Daily Drop? Congrats for making the cut this time around.
