This bouquet of purple glads brightens up our living room space. As we were looking more closely at the blossoms, they reminded us of the color of the year that Pantone selected for 2018.
Every year the Pantone Company, known for originating a universal color language for designers and printers, selects the color of the year. This year they selected ultra violet (swatch pictured below). Here is the Pantone explanation of Ultra Violet. We use the Pantone books in selecting the right colors and hues, when we develop brands.
"Historically, there has been a mystical or spiritual quality attached to Ultra Violet. The color is often associated with mindfulness practices, which offer a higher ground to those seeking refuge from today’s over-stimulated world. The use of purple-toned lighting in meditation spaces and other gathering places energizes the communities that gather there and inspire connection."
