Working Alone at the Antique Place.....

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Referral Group Incorporated

Yesterday was productive and fun. I worked alone at the antique place where I have a space. I enjoyed myself and sold quite a bit. People kept asking what I could do on prices, but I only have latitude over my own things and a maximum of 10% otherwise. It makes it easy. Yes, I can call, but no one is ever available and when folks are in line it is tough to walk away and make the call. The credit card machine kept shutting down, but I handled it.

So I think I got it, and sold more than their average Sunday sales. It's fun to talk with people. I have learned from personal experience that it is stupid to leave something for a few bucks. In the long run, it never matters and in the short run it doesn't really matter either. I convey that without pressure and most wind up buying.Go figure.......:)

When you think about real estate, it is time to focus. I have helped people for close to thirty years in all areas, and made the process not only simple but enjoyable. Why should you go it alone or settle for less? Call me and find a partner to help, direct and get you where you want to be.

It is true in real estate, too, Sheila. People want to save a thousand here or there, and 5 years from now all they will remember is they didn't get the house. And if they were lucky enough to buy it, they won't remember what they paid. Money is for buying what you want. End of story.

That sounds like a fun activity, Sheila.  I remember a trip to Puerto Vallarta.  I walked into a little shop that had a wonderful ceramic bowl that I wanted.  I had heard that folks there always wanted the first sale of the day to go well, because it set the tone for the rest of the day.  I offered less than the sticker price, and the guy held his price.  I was perplexed.  That's simply not the way it's done in Mexico, I thought.  I turned 180 degrees on my heals and walked out the door.  He called after me, "But, I love you."  I responded, "Business has nothing to do with love, senor."  Alas, that evening that bowl began to haunt me.  I really wanted it.  The next morning, I returned to the shop and payed full price.  The bowl hangs on my wall to this day.

Hello Myrl. That is a great story. I had a similar experience in China. I bought two small exquisite carvings thay I almost left there for the want of of common sense. Thanks for reminding me of my ah ha moment too.     Sheila

Shelia,

What a fun thing to do. I almost walked away from an exquisite( from my perspective) piece of jewelry at Portbello in London, my hubby said it was worth it. I went back and asked the lady to do better and she took 2 pounds off, she wanted the sale and I wanted the cross. I have never seen anything like it and I am so glad I bought it. I wear it all the time and reminds me of our trips there.

Sheila Anderson - Over the years you have masters negotiation skills that make sales successful. This should prove to be a very successful experience at the Antique Store. Plus, you might get listings or buyers too! It sounds to me like you handled Sunday sales like the tru Pro you are!!! I'll bet you would be excellent at Estate Sales too!

Hi Patricia and thank you. I don't actively list and sell in Massachusetts. I keep my NJ license for obvious reasons but that's no longer my main focus. TY   Sheila
