How To Simplify Spring Cleaning Projects

WHEN DOES SPRING START AND END

Spring begins March 20 and ends on June 21, 2018.

SUGGESTED BASIC TWO-STEP

Organize your spring cleaning into two steps:

  1. Who are you going to call?
  2. What can you do everyday for 32 days?

SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS

Now is the time to shop prices and start scheduling appointments in advance to hire reputable companies. Examples may include:

  • Hard Wired Smoke Detectors
  • Central A/C Maintenace
  • Roof Inspection
  • Dryer Vent Cleaning
  • Gutter Cleaning
  • Window Washing
  • Water Heater Inspection
  • Termite and Pest Inspectors
  • Landscapers
  • Painters

ASK NOT WHAT THEY CAN DO FOR YOU BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR YOU

Count the number of rooms in your home. To that number, add the following:

  • # of Closets
  • Garage
  • Linen Closets
  • Cabinets
  • # of Drawers
  • Storage Spaces
  • Storage Sheds
  • Yard Work

If the number you come up with is something like 7 rooms plus 25 extras, take a pledge to go through all 32 places in your home each day and pick a number, i.e., minimum 5, or the maximum # (your choice). Or schedule a time at minimum 5 minutes a day, then commit to spend each day dedicated to each room or added place to declutter and remove, repair, discard, or donate at minimum five items or more.

TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES

If you plan to commit, your spring cleaning will be easier than you think. Your house and property will be clean in no time. You will not feel exhausted, even if do choose the minimum effort, something is better than nothing. Not only will you free up space in your home to make it look good, smell better, and be in better condition, you will be free to enjoy the beauty of spring and summer having more time on hand for activities of your choice.

Like anything, if broken down in to small pieces a lot can be acheived.

Excellent list and approach for spring cleaning, Patricia. I usually start my spring cleaning in late March or early April. Depends on the weather, as sometimes it snows in March and in April.

Hi Patricia Feager, I like the idea of breaking down to small pieces and numbering. For some reason, cleaning is very therapeutic for me, especially after I'm done.

George Souto - LOL. I hope you really didn't mean it. Your wife deserves a maid or a man like you to shoulder the responsibilities.

Myrl Jeffcoat - thank you so much for the feature!!! It really means a lot to know you read my posts and think they are good enough for a feature. I know you put a lot of work into making those decisions and I never take you for granted.

I woke one morning just feeling so sure this one would be of value to others. It was sweet of you and the handful of others who thought it was worthwhile.

Thank you!!!

Ha!  I try to do a little bit of something like this every day but my plans soon become cast aside when I opt for playing in the garden instead! Life is too short to spend it all simply keeping everything in order. Let the closets become chaotic I say.

Dear Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089 - The premise for my post was to help prospective sellers. I am sorry if I offended you. I know you're a busy woman who works for a living and enjoys life to the fullest. So for now, I'll take the beatings, the punch in the stomach, and the slap in my face and will be more careful not to be offensive.

Patricia Feager I don't know why you think I was offended as that was not the intention.  Did it really sound that way?
