It’s Not Too Late to Begin Spring Cleaning.

We may still be in February but it’s time to think about spring cleaning.

Spring is the time to begin anew...start fresh. There’s no better way thanspring cleaning to begin at home. Here are some tips to get you started.

1.Edit

There are many organizers who will suggest that as you transition from one season to another, it’s a good time to dispose of clothing and items that you didn’t use during that season.

For example, look at your cool weather clothes (winter if you’re up north). If you kept passing over them when you went to your closet, it’s time to donate them for someone else to use.

You can do the same for holiday decorations that you didn’t use as well.

2.Open windows now while you can

With spring and summer coming, our air conditioners will be working around the clock. It’s 81 degrees in late February so you can imagine what summer will be like.

There aren’t too many times to open our windows and let the fresh air in so now is a good time to do that.

3.Landscaping

Look to your yard for trees and bushes that need trimming or removed. If you replace plants and flowers make sure that they can tolerate our summer heat.

Even though it seems as if hurricane season just ended, don’t forget it begins in June. So much of the damage from Hurricane Irma came from our trees and shrubs.

Seek the knowledge of a local tree expert as to what trees will need to be trimmed. Make sure they are not blocking power lines. The closer to hurricane season it gets, the harder it will be to find a service to take this on.

5.Take care of your windows and screens

Have your windows cleaned and if there are screens on them, consider removing them. This is especially true if your house will be on the market. You won’t want to open your windows beginning in April or June.

By the Way, did you know that removing your screens can allow as much as 30% more light in?

6.Sliding door tracks

It’s amazing how much dirt can collect in the tracks. It’s a good time to take a brush, rag and soapy water, and vacuum and clean the door tracks.

7.Freshen your dishwasher and disposal

We use these every day so they deserve to be freshened as well. Grab some ice cubes, vinegar, and baking soda to get started!

Spring is the ideal time to freshen your home. It’s the time of year when the earth calls for us to bring new life to things.

I have been cleaning ashes, mud and mud dust all of January and February that has seeped in everywhere from all the mudslides, etc.  Today we have cold winds blowing more of it everywhere.  So glad we have Hepa filters...LOL A
