Take the Stairs to Prepare for the Escalator
It does sound strange to say you should take the stairs to prepare for the escalator, doesn't it? After all, it takes effort and strength to go up 4 flights of stairs, many of us would be huffing and puffing by the time we got to the top of the stairs. But taking the escalator is a breeze, just get on the step and the "automatic stairs" will carry you to the top of those 4 flights of stairs without much effort at all.. just keep yourself on the step until it's time to step off.
The reason I say "Take the Stairs to Prepare for the Escalator" is that many times we must work hard and smart to get some where. Real Estate Careers are usually that way. Sometimes it takes many long hour days to get established. Developing the reputation of someone that takes care of clients and business, establishing databases, networks, marketing, systems in place, and techniques that work. Education to develop the skills and talk the language. Figuring out what works and what doesn't can lead to some false starts. Comparing ROI for different areas where money is spent. What advertising where...
We've been busy at Integrity Real Estate Services gearing up for the future. It's not just the immediate future of the Spring Market that is just around the corner but the long range plan, the big picture has been prominent in our plan.
We have had to revamp some marketing due to our main website not being able to syndicate to some of the major sites that we depend upon for exposure. Thankfully, we've been able to over come that and all of the listings of Integrity Real Estate Services are being displayed where they do the most good. We've stepped up our local involvement in several community areas lately. The most important thing that we've done is working with Chassy to become our newest licensed agent in our office. Her husband, Travis, is currently taking real estate classes also. Chassy and Travis will have many contacts and people in their circles that are of a different age than Don and I do. They will be instumental in working with the "younger" clients.
All of these steps are steps up the stairs, one foot in front of the other with eyes on reaching the top. The escalator is when you've made steps and put systems in place that then work for you, carrying you along. Those systems and efforts work for you at that point. Sometimes, we have to toss some of them out, or put new ones in place... climb some more steps but then hopefully we ride the escalator again!
