Best of Luck, "Lady Bird"

Real Estate Agent with GreatWest Realty DRE# 00827565

My daughters, Tami and Jill, graduated from St. Francis High School here in Sacramento. So did Greta Gerwig, who wrote and directed the autobiographic Oscar nominated movie, "Lady Bird." The flick has garnered five Academy Award nominations.

This evening, my girls are attending the party at their old Alma Mater, featured in the "Vanity Fair" article linked below.
They are wearing vintage prom dresses to the event, and Greta Gerwig will be wearing her prom dress to the Oscars.

I will be watching the awards this evening. Much of our City, Sacramento, is featured. “Lady Bird” is authentic, right down to the same Catholic school uniforms. I am wishing the best of luck to Greta Gerwig, and to “Lady Bird,” this evening!

How fun for your daughters to have a real connection to one of the films that really stands out!  I didn't finish watching yet, so not sure it this one won.

Well, sadly, Lady Bird did not win any awards. The Sacramento Bee figured the movie would not win and warned all of us but that didn't stop us from rooting for Greta Gerwig.

I liked the way Laura Dern held her hand as they both walked out on stage and squeezed her hand for luck! Greta's seemed very excited, her smile humble, almost demur. Just making it to the Oscars with 5 nominations is commendable.

All of Sacramento was on her side Oscar night. But man, am I getting hits on my blog today for The Shape of Water!

How exciting for Greta Gerwig!  Also, what a great way to turn back the hands of time to of all things, wearing vintage Prom Dresses!

I did see the film months ago. But I have to say, I left the theater not understanding the ending. The rest of the script was very intriguing and a really good comparison to the real world for residents who live there versus what the tourists see and think. As for the Catholic school experiences, I complete got it as I lived it too.

I wish Greta continued success and to your girls too!

Oh, how exciting - even with no wins, Greta won being nominated 5 times, Myrl!

Your daughters are beautiful - I love that they wore vintage dresses too. I know they had a fantastic time.

Happy Saturday!

I think it's wonderful that your daughters also chose to wear their prom dresses and it's amazing that they can.  Many people cannot wear their prom dresses even one year later!

Hello Myrl.  I enjoyed Lady Bird.

Although, it didn't win any awards at this ceremony,  it doesn't mean it isn't a wonderful movie that deserves a bigger audience in my opinion.

Myrl, the Awards are very political and heavily financed and not all the winners deserve winning... not sure if you remember when Kirk Douglas was up for an Oscar in those days they did not have the DVD's so he bussed the voters in to the movie theaters at his own expense so they would see his movie...guess who won? THIS is a great honor for the fact that she was nominated....Endre

I'm sure this was an exciting night out for your daughters. I'm not familiar with the film, but Sacramento is a beautiful city in its own right and deserves to be showcased.
