Wordless Wednesday...The Lone Shoes

On our morning walks at the beach we often see a lone shoe...all by itself. It could be on the curb where a car may have parked, or at the sidewalk shower.

Occasionally we’ll see one on the grass or in the sand on the path down to the beach. We’ve found flip flops and flippers...heels and slippers.

I always wonder if the shoe owner realizes that the shoe is still there on the beach or street waiting for them to return and reunite them with their partner shoe.

And, yes, I suppose I’ve had too much beach time this week or too much time on my hands.

Let your dreams outgrow the shoes of your expectations. Ryunosuke Satoro

Funny. I would wonder how the person made it home with only one shoe. Although more likely it probably fell out of their backpack or something.

Kathy,

What a great visual with your photo collage.  I often wonder about the "lone" shoe, especially when you see it day after day.  One time when were in Mauii on a walk in the cliffs above the beach, we saw a bright green pair of designer heels, size 5.  They were neatly placed, and I wondered if the owner would ever come back, when we saw it the next day.   A

It's easy to figure out while traveling down A1A at the end of a great beach day. People put their shoes on the roof or trunk of the car then head home. Works especially well when kid's shoes are involved. The kids never question what Mom or Dad did with their shoes.

Marco Giancola I'm laughing so hard!!!  It does take a while to find a Left that will go well with a Right flip flop!!  Love you!

Donald Urschalitz I know!  The other day there was a large black really spiked high heel by the curb.

Myrl Jeffcoat maybe there needs to be a website where you can buy one shoe.

JL Boney, III oh yes. That's why they call them a "pair" of shoes!

Kat Palmiotti that's what I think happens. It's the one high heel that I wonder about.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel wow... I wonder if something happened to the person who owned the green heels. There must be a story there.

Kevin J. May I'm sure that's what happens. Parents are trying to get everyone in the car and next thing you know...oops... lost shoe.

I always wonder when I see a lone shoe. It's funny how things like that capture our imagination.

Or someone is walking with a sore foot now! This made me chuckle. We will see things placed around Fishhawk Lake that people find. One glove. Glasses. A dog's leash. And all randomly placed so that the potential owner may happen upon it on their next walk.

I guess a lot of people just don't want to put their sandals/flip flops back on after walking on the sand and leaving one behind ensures they have to return!

Kathy, first thing I think of they must have been carrying it in a bag or a backpack and they lost it... other thoughts are they were having too much alcohol and did not realize they lost their shoes... either way fun photos to share with us:)Endre

Kathy, your post reminded me of the two years I lived a couple blocks off Waikiki Beach.  Yes, I often wondered of the many things that were left on that long strip of beach - the single shoe was probably the winner.  And the shoes came in all styles and sizes - little baby shoes and up :)
