Does anybody really know what time it is?

The change to daylight savings time is upon us again. Most of the country will move their clocks 1 hour forward starting Sunday morning. Here in the Phoenix area, we don’t change time, so for my part, I don’t have to do anything other than confirm that the time setting on all my electronic devices is still the same.

But because I have friends and family in many different states. I have to be aware that starting Sunday they are now 1 full hour later than they are today. This is sometimes a problem for them as well because when they think it is a good time to call, I might still be fast asleep.

It also means that my DVR may get confused and record The Three Stooges instead of Gilligan’s Island. I may never find out if the castaways get off the island. Although I am not sure why they want to get off the island, it looks like paradise.

I remember when then President Nixon signed the Emergency Daylight Saving Time Energy Conservation Act of 1973. Which placed the entire country on daylight savings time for 2 years. They claimed it saved energy. I am not sure it did, but I am sure it confused a lot of people and cost businesses a lot of money. It does make an interesting trivia question when you are playing with younger people.

For my part I kind of like the fact that Arizona doesn’t switch because every once in a while I like staying out after dark which is hard for me if the sun is up until 9:00 pm. Even worse, I hate going to bed when it is it is still daylight.

So don’t be offended if you call and I ask “What time is it where you are?” I don’t always know what time it is. Or what day for that matter.

I get tired of the back and forth. It just seems silly. I think Arizona is wise to not take part. Nice Post Joseph!

My understanding is that is was for farmers, but cows don't seem to care. I'm confused all year long because I talk to people all over the country, and my besties are in NY, an hour ahead. My google calendar went berserk, and scheduled next week 2 hours ahead, won't let me change. I'm going to bed now to rest up for Sunday.

A great song by "Chicago", love your catchy Blog title, and so appropriate to Joseph Domino 480-390-6011!  'And does anybody really care (about time)' . . .  Here we do not change our clocks, and totally agree with you, that I like it that way.  I enjoy your sense of humor, just sayin' . . .  Allie
